Meet Sherry Fielding-Eaton – Passionate About Putting Women’s Walking Football on the Map
Alright mate?! A true Southerner right here! 🤣

My name’s Sherry, proudly born and bred in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, since 1974. I’ve lived in Spain for the past 12 years and haven’t looked back!
Football has always been a huge passion of mine. As a child, I didn’t want to play netball or hockey — I wanted to kick a ball and score goals! The only way to do that back then was to play alongside the boys, so that’s exactly what I did. I spent many happy hours having a kick-about with the lads down the park, as well as playing with my niece, who went on to play for Luton Town and Leyton Orient.

It wasn’t until I came to Spain, though, that I finally got the opportunity to play competitive football.
My Spanish football journey started with a simple Facebook post looking for female players. A few of us turned up, quickly discovered our shared love of the game, and Quesada Ladies was born. It was here that I met some fantastic teammates and made friendships that have continued throughout my football journey.

When the opportunity came to join a new ladies' team in Benijófar, we jumped at the chance. I enjoyed two successful seasons playing 11-a-side football before moving on to Los Montesinos, where I spent another full season.
Then came walking football — and what an adventure that has been!

After joining a successful walking football team in Pilar de la Horadada, I was invited to attend a training camp for the Team Spain Over 50s Walking Football squad on the Costa del Sol. I was incredibly fortunate to be selected for the Team Spain squad, and I absolutely love every game I play with them.

I've since had the privilege of representing Spain against other countries, including France and Italy, and I'm incredibly excited about the opportunity to represent Team Spain at the Euros in Torrevieja in November.
Now, another exciting chapter has begun.

I was given the opportunity to join Benijófar Community Walking Football Club and help establish the club's first ladies' walking football team here in the Costa Blanca South.
I'm incredibly proud to be part of this new venture and excited to see what we can build together. I want to help create a team where women of all abilities can come along, enjoy football, make new friends, stay active and, most importantly, have fun.

I'm looking forward to playing alongside — and against — both women and men in our mixed league. Walking football is a fantastic sport, and I truly believe there is so much potential for the women's game to grow.
My goal is simple: to help put women's walking football firmly on the map and inspire more women to get involved.
If you've ever thought, "I'd love to play football, but I'm too old / too unfit / I've never played before" — don't let that stop you.
Come and have a kick-about with us. You might just discover a whole new passion! ⚽❤️

💚🤍 Benijófar Community Walking Football Club! 🤍💚

What a fantastic walking football session today! 🙌

25 lads turned up, split into 3 teams and got stuck into some great games — plenty of football, plenty of laughs and, most importantly, plenty of smiles! 😁⚽️

No winners. No losers. No pressure.
Just a group of mates enjoying the game we all love and having a great time together. ❤️

Because sometimes walking football isn't about the scoreline… it’s about the people, the friendships, the banter and simply being out there enjoying yourself.

And today was exactly how it should be! 👏👏

Football. Friendship. Fun. Community in motion 💚🤍

What can we say ?
Nothing more than… we did ourselves proud today. 💪⚽️

Heading into our first ever competitive league fixture, we knew we were up against a serious challenge — the current champions and, without doubt, the best team on the Costa Blanca.

After giving away three early goals - all our own mistakes, it looked like we could be on the end of a real spanking! 😳

But we dug deep.
Over the next two quarters, we battled our way back to 4–3, with just one quarter left to play. 🔥

We had our chances, but unfortunately just couldn’t find that final goal.

There were a few decisions that went against us today and I really mean against us, and we’ll certainly look back at those three soft goals we gave away — but that’s football.

Sitting down afterwards with a well-deserved cold beer 🍺, we couldn’t help but feel incredibly proud.
After just 15 weeks together, look how far we’ve come.

We went toe-to-toe with the champions, pushed them all the way into the final 10 minutes and, most importantly, showed that we belong here.

A massive well done to The Hub — you deserved the victory. 👏 But hearing your players say afterwards that we pushed you all the way and gave you a tough game meant a hell of a lot to us.

So no, we’re not going away to lick our wounds.
Because if ever a defeat could feel like a victory… this is it.

After just 15 weeks since Benijofar CWFC was formed, our Ladies Team are stepping onto the pitch for what is a huge achievement for walking football on the Costa Blanca 🇪🇸

Competing against male side and showing that women can challenge themselves, break barriers and belong in this game too.

Proud doesn’t even begin to describe it. 💚⚽

🚨 Come along and give it a try — your first step could be the start of something great!

⚽🍻 MEET Danny Grover ! – IT’S ABOUT MUCH MORE THAN THE FOOTBALL!

Hola, I’m Dan, 58, originally from Essex. After living in various parts of the UK, including London and the South East, I spent my last 12 years in the UK living in Aldwick on the south coast with my wife, who I’ve been lucky enough to share the last 36 years with.
Following her cancer treatment, we decided it was time for a new chapter. We took early retirement and made the move to Spain. We now live full-time in Rojales and absolutely love calling it home. 🇪🇸☀️
We wanted to get involved in the local community, meet people and make the most of life in Spain — which is where BCWFC came in!
I joined to keep fit, meet great people and get back to a sport I’ve loved all my life. But I’ve quickly discovered that walking football is about so much more than what happens on the pitch.
There’s still that competitive spark 🔥 — the banter, the games and those all-important bragging rights!
But the real magic happens around the football too. Friendly faces from all over the world, organised training, plenty of encouragement and, perhaps most importantly, friendships and heading for a drink together afterwards! 🍻
I’ve made some really good friends at the club.
Football has always been a big part of my life.

I spent more than 12 years coaching youth football in the UK with Hayes FC and Hayes & Yeading United, coaching a successful team, chairing a youth section of 20+ teams and organising a huge Middlesex youth tournament involving more than 200 teams.

My football inspiration? Geoff Hurst — yes, that one! He scored a hat-trick for England in the 1966 World Cup final, and I’m related to Geoff through his marriage to my cousin! 😁 Just wish I had his skills!

I’m a lifelong Spurs fan! I like to think I know a thing or two about winning… I just wish Spurs would prove it! 😂
An injury means I’ll be watching from the sidelines this season, but I’m definitely not going anywhere!

👟 NEVER PLAYED WALKING FOOTBALL? COME AND GIVE IT A GO!

You don’t need to have played professionally, be super-fit or take yourself too seriously.
Come for the football… stay for the friendships, laughs and drinks afterwards! 🍻⚽ There are two weekly training sessions, one open and one for those players that would like to be involved in competitive league matches and competitions. Benijofar Community Walking Football Club is a true community football club that caters for all!
Come and give it a go!

"𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗮 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆"

Hola amigos! I’m Keith Hamilton, originally from Edinburgh and proudly one of the club’s Over 60s members.

Growing up, football wasn’t really my thing. Despite attending Tynecastle High School, right next door to the Heart of Midlothian FC stadium, and having Hearts legend Gary Mackay as one of my classmates, I showed surprisingly little interest in sport.
Gary went on to make over 700 appearances for Hearts and represent Scotland at international level — while my own passion was music!
I started playing drums at an early age and eventually went on to play with a reasonably successful 1980s post-punk/goth band.

It wasn’t until my late 20s that football finally entered my life. I started playing five-a-side with friends from the pub and work. Nothing too serious — just good, friendly games and plenty of socialising.

Between 2010 and 2015, I also took up running, completing several 10K races and two half marathons.
I left Scotland in 2017 in search of blue skies and sunshine, and moved to the Costa Blanca earlier this year. Within a few weeks, I came across a Facebook post about Benijófar Community Walking Football Club, and I was immediately interested.
I got in touch and signed up for the first training session a few weeks later.

Walking into that first session felt a bit like the first day at school.
Nobody really knew each other, but within minutes we were chatting, kicking a ball around and starting to make new friends.
The “teachers” — our fantastic club management and organising team — gave us a briefing on the rules, explained their vision for the club, and then put us through a warm-up and stretching session.

Like many others that day, I hadn’t kicked a football for 20 or 30 years! We all got stuck in and did our best. The great thing was that there was no pressure and no judgement — just encouragement, laughter and enjoyment.

During those first few sessions, I’m sure I was playing like a two-left-footed, headless chicken! 😂 But thanks to the coaching, advice and encouragement from the club and its members, I’ve improved a little every week.

And recently, I even managed to score my first goal! ⚽🙌

Joining BCWFC and taking up walking football has been a fantastic way to improve my fitness and keep active.
As we get older, keeping the mind sharp and staying alert is just as important — and what better way to do that than by trying something new, challenging yourself and having fun along the way?
The social side has been equally fantastic. It’s such an easy and enjoyable way to meet new people from different nationalities and backgrounds. Whether it’s at a club social event or simply having a few refreshments after training, there’s always plenty of conversation, laughter and good company.

For me, BCWFC is about much more than football. It’s about fitness, friendship, fun and being part of a community.
So, if you’re looking for an enjoyable way to spend a few hours, get some exercise, meet new people and have a good laugh along the way, why not come along and join us at Benijófar Community Walking Football Club?
