The myth of postpartum recovery 💖

Current guidelines suggest that it is safe to return to physical activity, work, and in*******se six weeks after the birth of a child. BUT....

In addition to being overly optimistic when it comes to many women’s childbirth experiences and their ability to recover postpartum, the general recommendation does not take into account each woman’s individual experience...

And for a woman who has just gone through one of the most physically and mentally intense and exhausting times, these general guidelines add additional pressure in having to feel that she is “all good.”

So? When will you be ready to return to physical activity once you give birth?

Today we celebrate love🌹But I’m not just talking about love with your life partner. I’m talking about love also and especially toward yourself girls. This is a page dedicated to women and our strength as such! And so I want to dedicate a post to remind you to love your body, with its merits and its flaws, with its highs and with its lows. Maybe you (who are reading this post rn) are a girl who is struggling to like herself aesthetically or who has been struggling for years to get the body she desires, and today I take this opportunity to remind you that aesthetics is something way too superficial, instead work on your health, on feeling good about yourself, work on being able to get to your 80s and be independent and enjoy life till your last breath. Find your drive, your “why,” something worth more than just a “a big 🍑 and flat abdomen.” Because, believe me, this motivation will not keep you constant forever. Work on you, because that’s what loving yourself is all about: taking care of yourself on a deeper level, and not an aesthetic one. Or maybe you reading this post are a pregnant woman or a woman who has just given birth, and you are going through the various physical and mental changes. And maybe when no one sees you, you are a little sad for various reasons, and maybe because of all the hormonal changes, you struggle to be rational. So today I take this opportunity to remind you to love your body, because even without you telling it anything, and without any guidelines, it is doing and creating a miracle. So try not to belittle yourself when you see a girl on the street with a flat belly, don’t blame yourself for a day spent doing nothing because of fatigue and few hours of sleep, don’t cry if a pant doesn’t fit anymore! All these things, at the end of the day, what do they matter when you really stop and realize that YOUR BODY is creating a life from ZERO? Rather think about how you can move to feel better, and to be able to have an healthy and peaceful pregnancy and postpartum recovery! In short girls, I take this opportunity to remind you to love yourself, and use sport as a mean to help you feel better on a deeper level and not just aesthetically!💘

What is the cause of postpartum bleeding❓🤰✨

☝🏽First it is important to know that: The volume of blood in a pregnant woman’s body increases by 50% 😯

When the placenta detaches from the uterus, it leaves open blood vessels, which bleed into the uterus → The uterus contracts to allow delivery and expulsion of the placenta, and it also needs to eliminate the excess blood and tissue left behind after delivery.

Regardless of the mode of birth, some bleeding and vaginal discharge is normal.

This excess vaginal discharge that women experience after birth is called lochia, and is composed of blood, bacteria, and tissue from the lining of the uterus.

✅Basically, the woman’s body puts in place a natural process to clean itself of what the body now no longer needs for the next stages of postpartum. 💁🏽‍♀️

Isn’t it amazing the nature of the human body and its ability to adapt? And especially a woman’s body! 🩷

What’s the objective of strength training during pregnancy? 🤔

03/12/2023

Has anyone ever told you that...

Physical activity during pregnancy can improve the ability to support extra weight so as to minimise pain and the risk of potential injury. 🤰✨

During pregnancy, the body increases production of a hormone called relaxin, which, as the name suggests, acts to soften the ligaments of the pelvis; it also widens and softens the cervix.

While this is very helpful in preparing the body for childbirth, it can also make the hips, pelvis and all joints more mobile than usual when performing daily activities. As pregnancy progresses and the centre of gravity changes, this increased joint laxity can lead to compensatory movements and overuse of certain muscles and muscle groups, such as those in the lower back. 🏋️‍♀️

Exercise, particularly strength training, can help improve the way we move and consequently help reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries during pregnancy. 💖

So many times we think that having a healthy lifestyle is just about aesthetics. But what if we changed the way we look at things instead? If I told you that a healthy lifestyle, in all its aspects, could be a hugely important factor in your child's future well-being, what would you do? Would you try to change some of your habits? Think about it 💭🥰

✨Take a deep breath and let it go. Let go of the body that you had in adulthood, because your body will change during pregnancy. Don’t confuse this to mean that you should “let your body go” or compromise your health.

✨During and after pregnancy, your body will still be strong, fit, beautiful, and sexy, but it will be different.

✨From childhood to puberty to adulthood, your body is constantly evolving, and, with pregnancy, you are becoming the next version of You.

Let yourself become a mom, and know that, no matter what the change, you will always be You. 💕
