Nerja United 3 - 3 Benhavis Deportivo
Match Report
Nerja Utd hosted Benhavis Deportivo for the first game of a new season with the match being played at the Campo Municipal de futball de Frigiliana.
The first quarter of the game was uneventful with both sides canceling each other out with either keeper tested.
However in the second quarter, the game opened up, with both teams being guilty of running offences. The first of many penalties came Deportivo’s way, only to be denied by the home keeper who went down low to his left. Five minutes later however a Deportivo shot was parried by Rob only to fall to the Deportivo striker who slotted in the rebound. 1-0 Deportivo.
The next running penalty went Utd’s way, Tony Wells expertly dispatching the ball into the net.
Half Time 1-1
The 3rd quarter continued much the same with both keepers called into action, before Deportivo were awarded another running penalty, which they converted. Nerja responded by hitting the woodwork twice before scoring another penalty of their own, Tony Wells again. So 2-2 going into the last quarter.
In the final quarter Nerja kept a high press, striking the woodwork again, but with nine minutes to go Deportivo were awarded another free kick on the edge of the box, the resulting shot took a wicked deflection of the Utd wall, wrong footing the home keeper before nestling into the back of the net.
Nerja continued to push forward, hitting the woodwork once again, before through ball on the right set Tony Wells free and a thunderous shot from a tight angle found the far corner of the opponent’s net, levelling up the scores once again.
