the most significant mismatch for the Fijian Drua—and a potential "weak link"—could be the lack of experience and physical size in the reserve front row, specifically in the loosehead prop (17) and ho**er (16) positions.
The Reserve Scrum Battler, while the starting Fijian Drua tight five is formidable, the Waratahs typically bring substantial Super Rugby experience and size off the bench. When the replacements are called on:
Hooker (16): The Drua are likely to hand a debut to young Kavaia Tagivetaua. While promising, facing a seasoned Super Rugby ho**er from the Waratahs (like Mahe Vailanu) in his first professional match will be an extreme test, particularly in the lineout and crucial defensive scrums.
Prop (17/18): Depending on selection, the Waratahs can rotate a prop like Peni Ravai (who is listed as a potential Drua reserve in my lineup) or Tevita Tatafu. These players are destructive scrummagers with huge physical presence. If the Drua must counter with a younger, less-capped prop like Tagivetaua, the Waratahs’ reserve unit might force repeated penalties and win critical field position.
Why It's a Potential Weak Link, modern rugby is a 23-man game, and the final 20 minutes are often decided by the quality of the bench. If the Waratahs can identify this drop in experience and set-piece power, they will aim to keep the ball near their set-piece to exploit the difference, potentially stifling the Drua's attacking momentum.
