What an amazing weekend jungle ride!

Four birthdays at the sanctuary and counting — happy 13th, Summer!

Watching her grow up here at Sanctuary has been one of the sweetest gifts. The horses and dogs have claimed her as their own, and she has grown into a beautiful, confident rider along the way.

These captures are from the gentler part of our weekend — a relaxed ride and a peaceful horse-led walk. There's a second post coming that tells a very different story once our Sanctuary riders and horses hit the jungle trail. The horses were ready!

🌿 Join us any Saturday for our buddy horse hikes — all visitors welcome to hike, lead a horse or just relax and groom horses.
Grateful beyond words. 🙏

Whether you're walking solo or leading a gentle buddy horse by your side, every visitor to the Sanctuary is welcome to experience something truly special.
Wander our breathtaking trails, follow the river, lose yourself in the bamboo forests — and somewhere along the way, find a moment to simply breathe, slow down, and be.

But perhaps the most beautiful part? The horses themselves.
Many arrived here broken — slashed, burnt, beaten, neglected — so deeply hurt that humans were their greatest fear. And yet, with patience, consistency, and so much love, they transformed. Today, they are trusting, warm, and joyful souls who light up when they see the familiar faces of the families who have walked beside them, week after week, month after month, sometimes year after year.
That kind of healing doesn't happen by accident. It happens because of you — our Sanctuary families and horse lovers who show up, who love deeply, and who give these incredible animals the life they always deserved.

With so many horses still waiting for that love, that exercise, that care — we truly could not do this without you.
From the bottom of our hearts — and theirs — Vinaka!

When it rains, we show up anyway. 🐴🌧️

Our Sanctuary families, Sanctuary team, and Fijian Olympic swimmer Tolu Young gathered to groom and exercise the horses through pouring rain — a reminder that love for the horses doesn't wait for perfect weather.

The next morning brought sunshine, and with it, more horses headed out on the trails enjoying the exercise and buddy walks.

A buddy walk is something truly special. You hike along the stunning trails, leading a rehabilitated horse gently beside you. No rush, no stress — just you, the path, and a horse learning to trust again. It's as healing for the hiker as it is for the horse!

Thank you to everyone who came and gave so freely of their time and heart to the Sanctuary horses. 💛
