The Fijian Drua is pleased to announce the signing of talented Queen Victoria School fly-half and sprinter Jone Raibevu into the Club’s Development Squad, marking another success story for the Drua’s grassroots talent pathway through the Drua Foundation.

Raibevu joins the Development Programme after progressing through the Club’s Junior Development system, having first been identified through the Drua Foundation's talent scouting initiatives in 2024. His elevation into the Development Squad highlights the continued impact of the Drua Foundation and its commitment to discovering and nurturing Fiji’s next generation of rugby stars.

Established to strengthen rugby development across Fiji, the Drua Foundation works alongside the Fiji Rugby Union and the Drua to identify promising young players, create access to high-quality coaching and development opportunities, and help remove barriers for talented athletes from communities throughout the country. His elevation into the Development Squad highlights the continued impact of the Drua Foundation and its commitment to discovering and nurturing Fiji's next generation of rugby stars.

Excited about the opportunity, Raibevu said: “I was really surprised when I got the call about the opportunity. I was also excited when the Drua committee told me that I’ll be joining the Drua Development next season.”

The Kalabu, Naitasiri youngster first captured national attention during the 2024 Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Eastern Zone with his performance. Later that year, Raibevu was selected into the inaugural Fijian Drua Junior Development programme, where he joined a group of promising young players receiving specialised coaching and high-performance training from Drua staff.

Beyond rugby, Raibevu has also excelled on the athletics track. The Queen Victoria School student has established himself as one of the school's premier sprinters, winning the prestigious Blue-Ribbon event at the Tailevu Zone Athletics Championships and demonstrating the speed and athleticism that make him such an exciting prospect.

Fijian Drua CEO Jeff Miller said: "Jone's signing is another great example of what can be achieved when The Fiji Rugby Union and the Drua invest in identifying and developing young Fijian talent from an early age. He first came onto our radar through our scouting programme and has continued to impress at every stage of his journey, from the Academy to now earning a place in our Development Squad.”

Raibevu becomes the latest young player to progress through the Club's development system and will now continue his rugby journey within the Fijian Drua environment as he works towards earning higher honours in the years ahead.
