SEVEN DECADES OF SISTERHOOD MEETS ONE VERY SPECIAL “TRAILLBLAZER”! 🔥🥋 💙

This week as St. Joseph's Secondary School Alumnae celebrate 7 decades of sisterhood and leadership, we are elated to celebrate one of our own: proud SJSS alumna Venice “Traillblazer” Traill, Class of 2016!

And with a name like Traill, was she ever going to do anything other than blaze? 🔥

🌟 HER ACHIEVEMENTS:

🏟️ - the first Fijian taekwondo athlete to qualify for the Olympic Games on merit.
🥋World Taekwondo Level 1 Coach - first ever Fijian female certified coach.

AND NOW.....

🌍 First-ever representative from Fiji Taekwondo—and only the ninth Fijian coach overall—to be selected for the prestigious International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Program.

She joins coaches previously selected from volleyball, weightlifting, athletics, basketball, swimming, rugby and archery.

Since April, Venice has undertaken over 60 hours of virtual learning in coaching, athlete development, sport science, psychology, nutrition and wellbeing—passing every assessment with flying colours! 🌟

🤹‍♀️ AND SHE DID ALL THIS WHILE:

🎓 Completing her university degree
💼 Working full-time
🥋 Coaching at Civic Taekwondo Academy
🇫🇯 Serving as Assistant Coach of the Fiji National Taekwondo Team

🦸‍♀️ What a superwoman! 🌟

✈️🇺🇸 Next week, Venice heads to the University of Delaware for three weeks of intensive in-person learning and a high-performance Taekwondo apprenticeship.

We cannot wait to find out where her apprenticeship will take her—fingers crossed it is with the USA Taekwondo Team! 🤞🥋🇺🇸

After returning, Venice will develop her athlete-centered high-performance pathway for Fiji before travelling ✈️ to the IOC Headquarters in Switzerland 🇨🇭 in 2027 to present her project. 🎤

From 🏫 SJSS girl ➡️ 🏟️ Olympian.
From 🥋 athlete ➡️ 👩‍🏫 coach.
From 🏅 making history ➡️ 🇫🇯 building Fiji’s
future.

The Fiji Taekwondo Association (FTA) was pleased to support Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate-do Fiji by lending our competition mats for their Inter-Dojo Karate Competition, held on Saturday, 22 August 2026.

At FTA, we believe in supporting the wider martial arts community and working together to create safe and positive sporting opportunities for athletes across Fiji.

Sharing resources is one way we can strengthen relationships between sporting organisations and contribute to the continued growth of martial arts in Fiji. 🇫🇯

We thank Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate-do Fiji for taking great care of the mats and returning them in excellent condition.

The Fiji Taekwondo Association (FTA) extends its best wishes to RT Xtreme Taekwondo Club for its Fight Against Drugs – Charity Gala Dinner tonight.

This is a wonderful initiative that goes beyond Taekwondo — using our sport to promote discipline, healthy choices, strong minds and a drug-free future for our young people and communities.

FTA also acknowledges Martin’s Humanity Foundation for supporting this worthy cause, with proceeds contributing towards the purchase of Electronic Point Scoring Systems (PSS) for the club which will support the development of Taekwondo.

To the RT Xtreme team, organisers, sponsors and everyone supporting tonight's event — we wish you a successful and memorable evening.

Together, we can use Taekwondo as a positive force in our communities.

🥋🇫🇯 FTA WISHES NAKASI–NAUSORI TEAM ALL THE BEST IN NEW ZEALAND! 🇳🇿

On 2 September 2026, Board Members of the Fiji Taekwondo Association (FTA) were invited by Head of Team, Master Francis Nand, to attend the presentation and distribution of team kits to the Nakasi–Nausori Taekwondo Team in Nausori.

The team will depart Fiji on 9 September 2026 to compete at the Bay Competition in New Zealand.

A strong delegation of 22 athletes — 11 male and 11 female athletes — together with 4 officials will proudly make the journey to represent their team and Fiji on the international stage. 🇫🇯🥋

The Fiji Taekwondo Association wishes all 22 athletes and 4 officials safe travels and the very best for the competition. Compete with confidence, discipline and respect, and make the most of this valuable international experience.
