🎭✨ The workshops of the Erasmus+ project Dancing with STEAM continue in Sicily! 🇮🇹

Young participants are now working on transforming the first three STEAM modules based on theatre, movement and embodied learning into digital and creative activities. 💻🌍

During the workshops, they are experimenting with different digital tools, testing creative ideas and exploring how technology can support imagination, artistic expression and collaborative learning. ✨

The participants are discovering how movement, storytelling and creativity can become digital experiences through innovation, fantasy and teamwork. 🚀

The activities are part of the Erasmus+ project “Dancing with STEAM” (Project Number: 2025-1-FR02-KA210-YOU-000349743), co-funded by the European Union. 🇪🇺

The local workshops of the Erasmus+ project “Dancing with STEAM” continue in Italy! 🇮🇹✨

After the first successful sessions, we have now launched a second local workshop cycle with another group of young participants from Palermo, continuing to explore STEAM competences through movement, dance, theatre and embodied learning experiences connecting science with creativity and self-expression. 🌍🎭

Tomorrow, the group will begin the digital component of the workshops, experimenting with creative technologies and digital tools connected to STEAM education and artistic expression. 💻✨
The activities are being facilitated by our youth worker/trice who previously took part in the international training course and are now transferring the methodology locally to young people in Sicily.
📍New workshop sessions will continue throughout the coming months involving around 60 young participants across Sicily.

If you are a young person based in Sicily and would like to join the project activities, feel free to contact us and become part of the experience! 💫

💃🔬 A glimpse from the first local workshop of the Erasmus+ project “Dancing with STEAM” in Sicily!
Through dance, movement and creative exploration, young participants experienced STEAM in a completely different way — using the body to discover science, trust, balance and collaboration. 🌍✨
During the day, participants explored:
⚡ force, gravity and acceleration through movement
🧪 transformation and chemical reactions through creative activities
🧠 trust, safety and group synchronisation through embodied exercises
An intense and inspiring experience led by youth workers trained during the international training course, now bringing the methodology to local young people in Sicily. 💫
📍First workshop — May 9
More activities are coming soon!

On Friday 17 April, FICUS ETS jumped on air as a guest on a radio show to present the Dancing with STEAM project 🎙️✨

We talked about how Dancing with STEAM mixes science, art, dance and creativity 💃🔬🎨 to make learning more fun, inclusive and engaging for young people. Because yes — learning can (and should) be dynamic and inspiring! 🚀

It was also a great chance to connect live with the audience in Italian 🇮🇹 and share ideas with the local community 💬

Today we successfully concluded the online digital training cycle of the Dancing with STEAM project 💻✨

Over the past sessions, our youth workers have deepened their understanding of digital tools and explored how to integrate them into non-formal education through creative and embodied approaches 🎭🤖

This final session marked not just the end of a training phase, but the beginning of a more confident and conscious use of technology in educational practices. Participants are now better equipped to design and facilitate activities that combine movement, creativity and digital innovation in meaningful ways 🎯

By strengthening both technical and pedagogical competences, we are building the foundations for impactful workshops where young people can learn, experiment and express themselves in inclusive and engaging environments 🌱

A big thank you to all the participants for their active involvement and energy throughout the training!

Next step: putting knowledge into action 🚀

Missed what happened in Marseille? 🇫🇷✨

Within the project Dancing with STEAM (Project No. 2025-1-FR02-KA210-YOU-000349743), co-funded by the Erasmus+ KA210-YOU programme, we developed 5 learning modules that bring STEAM to life through dance, theatre and creative methodologies.

From physics to chemistry, from mathematics to ethics, these modules transform scientific concepts into interactive, embodied and inclusive learning experiences for youth work 💡

👉 Now available online!

Let’s rethink how we teach and learn STEAM—through movement, creativity and collaboration 🌍

20/03/2026

Today we held the first online digital training session of the Dancing with STEAM project 💻✨

Our youth workers had the opportunity to explore the digital tools that will be used in the upcoming workshops, discovering their features, educational potential and practical applications in non-formal learning environments 🎯

This training was an important step to strengthen digital competences and to prepare future activities where creativity, movement and technology come together in an innovative way 🎭🤖

By building a shared understanding of the tools, we are supporting our youth workers in creating more engaging, inclusive and interactive learning experiences for young people 🌱

We’re just getting started — stay tuned for the next steps of the journey! 🚀

🎭🔬 How can performing arts help young people understand science?

Within the Dancing with STEAM project, we have just released a new resource: “Embodied STEAM Methodology – Facilitator Guidelines.”

This publication presents an innovative pedagogical approach that connects performing arts and STEAM education, helping youth workers explore scientific concepts through movement, experimentation and collective reflection.

The methodology was developed and tested during the Activity 2: Dancing with STEAM Study Visit in Marseille, where facilitators from partner organisations experimented with creative ways to teach STEAM in non-formal education.

Inside the guidelines you will find:
✨ the pedagogical foundations of the Dancing with STEAM approach
✨ the STEAM learning cycle based on the body
✨ key methodological principles for facilitation
✨ five interdisciplinary STEAM modules linking performing arts with science

The resource is designed to be accessible for youth workers, even without previous experience in dance or theatre.
💡 By positioning the body as a laboratory and theatre as a space for experimentation, young people can explore science in a creative, collaborative and critical way.

🎭✨ New Publication: Best Practices in Dance and Theatre for Youth Work

We are happy to share the publication of the new report developed within the Dancing with STEAM project:
“Best Practices in Dance and Theatre for Youth Work.”

The publication presents 10 best practices that explore how dance, theatre, and creative movement can support youth work and non-formal education. These practices highlight how performing arts can help young people develop creativity, emotional expression, collaboration, and social awareness.

The report brings together experiences from several European projects, including HeArts of Youth, Dance Against Bullying (DAB), Dance Against Stressful Situations (DASS), Improve by Move, and Lifelong Dancing, alongside internationally recognised methodologies such as Forum Theatre, the Anna Halprin movement approach, and the Viewpoints improvisation method.

This collection offers practical inspiration for youth workers, educators, facilitators, and artists interested in integrating performing arts into their work with young people.
