Me, explaining the difference between the FGC and the Smash community in a big comment, with a tint of anger against some people at the Rushdown Revolt dev team.
Multiversus, with its winning formula for guaranteed success, is at the same player count as other traditional fighters just 3 months after launch. Maybe this is just as good as it gets for long-term fighting game player numbers? Posted in r/Fighters by u/Madsbjoern • 413 points and 224 comments

I had some fun with this Reddit comment. It's typically that kind of questions that I like being lenghy about. So I went in details with each game the Original Poster quoted on his title, and made a small text explaining my personal opinion on the "hate" each game had within the FGC.
Why does almost everybody hate Marvel VS Capcom Infinite, Street Fighter X Tekken, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Capcom Fighting Evolution, The King of Fighters XIV, Street Fighter V, Jump Force, Mortal Kombat 11 and Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe so much? I seriously don't understand all the hate all these games get. Like, are they really that bad? What's wrong with them?

An article I sat on for months, before I found the time and motivation to publish it. The perspectives of an EVO-sized fighting game tournament.
Can the European FGC (Fighting Game Community) handle an EVO-sized global tournament in their continent? C4 (Shaf)'s answer: Yes, it can. But it would definitely need more than just the community’s will to get to EVO’s level. Before answering to this question, it’s important to understand what EVO was, how it evolved, and what it is now. In 1996, EVO started with another name, Battle by the Bay. ...

In this Reddit comment, I've compared fighting game fundamentals with some properties in physics and biology, commonly known as "emergent properties".
How would you define fighting game “fundamentals”? Posted in r/Fighters by u/AshuraSenkuu • 5 points and 11 comments

"Early Tier-Lists aren't the problem." My response to early tier-lists being discussed in this Reddit thread.
Unpopular Opinion: Early Tier Lists are fun and people are way too worried about having opinions early on in a game’s lifecycle Title. I always enjoy looking at early Tier Lists and comparing them to later ones when the meta develops more, and it’s a shame that it feels...

Meaningless, overrated, and dangerous. That's how I described Online Ranked in most fighting games. I explained why in this Reddit comment.
What do you think about win/loss ratios and ranks? Hello, Fighting Game Community! I'm not sure if this is the right place for a question like this, but I hope it is! I'll keep my question short....

Another Reddit comment write-up. The subject was about "Gentlemen's Rules", used in Smash tournament rulesets, having an FGC equivalent. I took the opportunity to explain one of the FGC's core mentality, and did a take on explaining "Mindgames".
Smash's Gentleman rules in the FGC In Smash tourneys, there is an option that the two players can do whatever they want, even if it's not tournament legal, as long as both players...

The Steam Deck has just been announced, and it's a very exciting news for the FGC. But not all is perfect, and I try to explain why in this Reddit thread.
It's not the Steam Deck that might be the potentially new FGC standard. That's SteamOS on a whole. The Steam Deck is Valve's own way to say that SteamOS is ready for shipping, and that other PC manufacturers can work with them to release Home...

Killer Instinct always had a weird place as a fighting game, within people's mind. Is the brand known enough to be as known as Tekken or Mortal Kombat? I try to explain why and how on that Quora answer.
Do you think the Killer Instinct series of fighting games will ever match Mortal Kombat or Tekken in terms of success? Chaf Arfaoui's answer: The potential is definitely there. Especially when the first Killer Instinct came the same year as the first Tekken game. They could have been a big fighting game license over the year, especially with how successful and iconic the series became over the years, after the Su...

Free-to-play or season passes, what's the most adapted business model for fighting games? I bring some elements of answers in this Reddit comment.
How do you feel about the current monetization strategy of fighting games and would you prefer a f2p + micro transactions route? Posted in r/Fighters by u/Skill874 • 6 points and 23 comments

A Quora answer about Splatoon, and its place in the Esports industry. I'm not really optimistic on that one.
I’m an aspiring 17 year old Splatoon 2 player in eSports, I’m part of a somewhat new org. I just wanted to ask, from where I am, where sh... Chaf Arfaoui's answer: The best thing to do for you, would be to start streaming, and growing your fan-base. That will put some value under your name, and push you to train harder and be better. Your team should be the same, and depending your high-school schedule, you should maximize the number ...
