19th on the grid. First at the chequered flag. In Monza. At home. At just 20 years old. 🇼đŸ‡č

What Kimi Antonelli produced today wasn’t simply a comeback. It was a masterclass from a driver who already looks years ahead of his age.

Seven victories in thirteen Grands Prix this season. 267 points. A 66-point lead over George Russell. And now one of the greatest recoveries in Formula 1 history.

Of course, the word “GOAT” cannot be earned in a few months. It takes titles, longevity and success across different eras. But if we are talking about foundations, Antonelli is already building one of the most extraordinary starts to a career this sport has ever seen.

For me, the championship is over.

And this time, we shouldn’t need another late-season technical twist like McLaren’s double disqualification in Las Vegas 2025 to manufacture suspense where the track has already delivered its verdict.

The question is no longer whether Antonelli can become World Champion. It is how far this kid can go.

Ferrari arrive at Monza with no place to hide. 🇼đŸ‡č

Zandvoort ended with Hamilton P4 and Leclerc P5. The pace was there, but qualifying and race management left the feeling that Ferrari had failed to maximise its potential.

Now comes Monza: Ferrari’s home race and, on paper, one of its biggest opportunities of the season.

A circuit dominated by full throttle, low drag, heavy braking and energy deployment. Hamilton and Leclerc are also expected to receive fresh power units — although no performance upgrade has yet been officially confirmed.

And Ferrari could hardly ask for two drivers with better Monza history:

🏆 Hamilton: five victories and a record seven pole positions
🏆 Leclerc: two iconic Ferrari victories, in 2019 and 2024

But the opposition will not disappear. Norris arrives with momentum, Russell has an opportunity to strike, and Verstappen won here last season.

Ferrari are 87 points behind Mercedes in the Constructors’ Championship. At home, potential will no longer be enough. They need ex*****on.

Andrea Stella’s defence of Oscar Piastri is interesting because it gives us something very specific to test.

His explanation is not really about confidence or mentality. It is about how naturally Piastri can extract performance when grip becomes more difficult — and whether he has to consciously adapt more than Norris.

So I went back through the last five Grands Prix and looked beyond the finishing positions.

Qualifying tells one story: Norris was faster in all five.

But Sunday is more nuanced.

🇩đŸ‡č Austria — almost nothing between them early, slight Norris edge later.
🇬🇧 Britain — Norris faster in the clean comparable window, but the sample is small.
🇧đŸ‡Ș Belgium — too many strategy differences to make a fair pace comparison.
🇭đŸ‡ș Hungary — virtually identical early. Norris was much faster later, but Piastri’s tyres were around six laps older.
đŸ‡łđŸ‡± Zandvoort — Norris had the stronger pace through the main part of the race, while Piastri became slightly faster late on once he had the fresher tyres.

And that tyre context matters.

The numbers do not prove that Piastri suddenly has a fundamental weakness.

But they also don’t really support the idea that the recent gap is just about results or bad luck.

Right now, Norris looks like the driver who is extracting more from the McLaren more consistently.

The interesting question is why.

Is this simply Norris being the faster driver at this point of the season?

Or is Stella actually revealing a characteristic of Piastri’s driving that the 2026 car is beginning to expose?

Max Verstappen has now spun or crashed six times in 2026.

For almost any other driver, that would already be one of the biggest narratives of the season.

To be fair, these were not six driver errors.

Austria and Silverstone were linked to rear-aero or rear-wing failures, while the exact cause of his Australian qualifying crash remained unclear.

But Miami, Hungary and Zandvoort were mistakes.

What interests me is how differently those mistakes are presented.

In Miami, the spectacular 360° recovery was celebrated as another demonstration of Verstappen’s brilliance — while the error that dropped him from P2 to P10 almost disappeared from the story.

At other times, explanations surrounding the car arrive so quickly that the possibility of driver error barely gets discussed.

This doesn’t mean Verstappen has suddenly forgotten how to drive. It means that, with a more unpredictable car and greater pressure, he is showing the same vulnerability as every other driver.

The dominant years may have hidden how fine those margins really were.

Greatness and fallibility can coexist. But if Verstappen is presented as the best driver in F1, his mistakes should be judged by the same standards as everyone else’s.

So after what we have seen in 2026: is Max Verstappen still the best driver on the grid — or is his reputation now doing part of the work?

Lewis absolutely dominated the race, eventually winning by **16.772s**.

Asked about his advantage afterwards, he admitted he had been watching Verstappen and Leclerc fighting behind:

Max immediately replied: **“You could have slowed down!”** 😂

Max won by **8.771s** while PĂ©rez and Leclerc were fighting for P2 in the championship.

After the race, Verstappen was able to explain exactly where PĂ©rez had lost time in traffic.

Meanwhile, Alonso and PĂ©rez produced an incredible fight for P3 behind him.

While leading the race that would decide McLaren’s Constructors’ Championship, Norris was still keeping an eye on Leclerc’s charge through the field:

So yes, F1 drivers are incredibly busy inside the cockpit.

But sometimes when you have the pace, the gap

Sometimes you have to make a decision which won’t go well with one of your drivers, if you want to win. And it looks like neither Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team or Scuderia Ferrari HP are willing to do so, so far. Papaya rules for everyone?
