Special thanks to Prof. Danijela Baric, Ph.D, at the University of Zagreb - Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences for the publication in Croatian and English of a special edition on level crossing safety.

Baric is also a member of our UIC working groups on level crossing safety (GLCN) and on trespass and su***de prevention (TreSP-Network). Baric will also intervene at TRESPAD in York this year.

Thanks also to several colleagues who highlighted their company's efforts and their own dedication to railway safety and the prevention of traffic accidents at level crossings, including saving human lives.

On 13 March, TreSP-Network (Trespass and Su***de Prevention Network) members had the wonderful opportunity to visit both the Smart Monitoring Room (SMR) of ProRail and the OCCR (Operational Control Centre Rail), located in the same building in Utrecht. On 14 March, we had a very inspiring meeting with our railway colleagues sharing their knowledge and experiences in the trespass and su***de prevention.

On 17-18 October 2024, the UIC Global Level Crossing Network held its 32nd meeting at the kind invitation of ProRail, at the Rail Centre in Amersfoort and in Ede, Netherlands.
Chair Allan Spence opened the session by thanking the hosts Gerard Pool, and Dennis Zivkovic, ProRail.
40 members took part in person or online, with the majority representing European railway infrastructure managers, research centres, academic institutions, as well as the Danish and Portuguese National Safety Authorities, and more globally the US Federal Railroad Administration, Operation Lifesaver Canada, Trenes Argentinos, and JR East.

👉Właśnie rozpoczęła się 16. edycja Międzynarodowego Dnia Bezpieczeństwa na Przejazdach Kolejowo-Drogowych (The International Level Crossing Awareness Day – ILCAD). Celem kampanii ILCAD jest podniesienie świadomości społeczeństwa na temat zagrożeń na przejazdach kolejowo-drogowych oraz zmniejszenie liczby incydentów na wspomnianym obszarze.

👉Od 3 lat konferencję ILCAD poprzedzają obchody Międzynarodowego Dnia Zapobiegania Przechodzeniu przez Tory w Miejscach Niedozwolonych (The International Trespass Awareness Day – TRESPAD).

👉Co roku w obu konferencjach poświęconych tematyce bezpieczeństwa uczestniczą przedstawiciele kilkudziesięciu krajów z całego świata. 🌎🌍🌏

AUSTRALIA - LEVEL CROSSING SAFETY
The Australian Government has launched a national advertising campaign as part of its commitment to improve safety around regional railway crossings.
The campaign reminds drivers of the risks around regional railway crossings and raises awareness of the importance of being cautious, emphasising the message to ‘Slow down. Look. Listen for trains.
’The campaign forms part of our Government’s $180.1 million Regional Australia Level Crossing Safety Program, to improve safety around railway crossings in regional areas, which includes $160 million to support lower-cost, high-priority railway crossing upgrades, and $4.7 million for two grants rounds to support research and trials of low-cost, innovative level crossing safety technology and improvements. hashtag hashtag hashtag hashtag
