Absolutely thrilled to announce the next phase of growth for Back2front Physio... Personal Training.

Initially we are looking to help the over 40's, the people anxious with the gym environment or the people wanting to gain confidence in strength training.

We don't want to turn you into Arnold Swarzenneger but we want to give you confidence and debunk the myths surrounding strength training as lifting weights is safe for pretty much everybody.
I am a massive fan of this practice. You make people feel comfortable the moment you walk in and you instantly know you are in safe hands. My training has progressed so much more thanks to you all. Thank you for helping me train safely and reduce my risk of injury but most of all, thank you for your professionalism, your advice and ongoing support. What an amazing team!

Run analysis is absolutely brilliant today, including gait analysis with balance and thorough strength assessments.
An eye opener, confirming weaknesses in the tests, it’s great having the results and knowledge of what needs work and advice on how to progress, with the personalised program and through to reassessment.

I limped into Chris's clinic on the 5th of February having come out of a big boot the day before after breaking a bone in my foot in the Glynneath Boxing Day five mile race.
My request to him was simple but challenging - "I have a charity place for the London Marathon with my wife on 22nd April and I got to be able do it"
With clear advice and lots of different exercises Chris got me carefully back into running and I even managed to beat my all time personal best for a half marathon at Merthyr on the 25th March.
I'm all set now for London on Sunday after a final sign off from Chris today - many thanks for getting me sorted !

First session with the 66fit suspension trainers this morning. Just the basics from the book all with good, steady form. Great workout particularly the single leg squats, wowzers! Great quality kit with a fabulous price compared to the expensive alternatives. Might be contacting you for some surf specific exercises ;-)

Pain is a physical sensation therefore we can feel it but other people can't.

Anxiety, depression and other mental health conditions can create a heightened response to your perception of pain causing you to feel that there is more damage than is present.

Pain does not always equate to physical damage therefore exercise is not detrimental to the healing process. It is actually beneficial.

Our role as a physio is to identify the correct exercise, at the correct time and at the correct intensity to promote optimal healing.

Don't be afraid to reach out to professionals who can help you to reduce your pain.

🥾May is Living Streets' National Walking Month. This year, they are encouraging us all to - and walk for 20 minutes each day during May.

🥾Walking is an easy and accessible way to improve physical and mental health and a 20-minute walk can reduce the risk of a number of preventable health conditions, including certain cancers, depression, heart disease and Type 2 diabetes.

🥾By swapping a short drive for a short walk, you can also help reduce air pollution, congestion and road danger - whilst saving yourself some money and getting active in the process!

🥾Throughout May, we'll be sharing lots of tips and info on walking groups, routes, health benefits and much more.

Which tech is best to track your heart rate whilst training?
Most runners now have a smartwatch and use their tech to track their heart rate during training. However the accuracy of your watch is highly variable with the fitbit blaze having an accuracy of just 67% during running.

A chest strap heart rate monitor will give a 99% accuracy compared to ECG so if you are looking to be accurate with your heart rate based training I would recommend wearing an electrode based chest strap.
