Pain is a physical sensation therefore we can feel it but other people can't.
Anxiety, depression and other mental health conditions can create a heightened response to your perception of pain causing you to feel that there is more damage than is present.
Pain does not always equate to physical damage therefore exercise is not detrimental to the healing process. It is actually beneficial.
Our role as a physio is to identify the correct exercise, at the correct time and at the correct intensity to promote optimal healing.
Don't be afraid to reach out to professionals who can help you to reduce your pain.

🥾May is Living Streets' National Walking Month. This year, they are encouraging us all to - and walk for 20 minutes each day during May.
🥾Walking is an easy and accessible way to improve physical and mental health and a 20-minute walk can reduce the risk of a number of preventable health conditions, including certain cancers, depression, heart disease and Type 2 diabetes.
🥾By swapping a short drive for a short walk, you can also help reduce air pollution, congestion and road danger - whilst saving yourself some money and getting active in the process!

Which tech is best to track your heart rate whilst training?
Most runners now have a smartwatch and use their tech to track their heart rate during training. However the accuracy of your watch is highly variable with the fitbit blaze having an accuracy of just 67% during running.
A chest strap heart rate monitor will give a 99% accuracy compared to ECG so if you are looking to be accurate with your heart rate based training I would recommend wearing an electrode based chest strap.
