A few of you might have heard that Scotland got a new archery shop recently! Merlin Archery opened a new branch in Glenrothes and a few of us went to their opening weekend to check out all the shiny new equipment ✨ it’s safe to say we didn’t go home empty handed and we even spotted chairperson Rebecca Leigh on the wall of their in-shop range 🏴

A few weeks ago now, Aberdeen University Archery Club and ACA hosted the Scottish Tour Stage 2 together at the University of Aberdeen. The event was a WRS WA 70/50m with H2Hs and went really well, it felt particularly high level this year with the addition of ianseo for results and PDAs for scoring.
It was Rebecca’s third year as TO of a Scottish Tour event and she really enjoyed the added confidence that came with having ironed out some of the creases from previous years and was especially excited to have enough support through Erin Ann Dobbin, shadow TO, to be able to shoot on the second day (even coming away with a Silver medal), always more to learn though as she moves onto organising our next joint competition - Scottish Archery Outdoor Championships in August.
Weather on the first day was a tale of two halves, sunny in the morning and then very, very, very wet in the afternoon. We want to express our admiration of the archers who battled through the elements all the way to their medal matches in so much rain.
Sunday came through with a sunny warm day and some swirling wind to keep everyone on their toes - one rogue gust came out of nowhere and sent bows over and hats flying in a day of otherwise moderate breezes.
We want to thank as always the judges, our field team, the TO, AUAC for organising the venue, the uni estates team for their hard work on the field marking this year, Alistair Renwick for his results management and Samantha and Jules for the catering. Congratulations to the medallists and thanks to everyone for coming, we hope you had a really good time, see you at the next one!
Here is a small selection of the wonderful photos from our photographer Sean Lok (seanlok1218 on IG), it’s really special to have the addition of some film camera photos and some fun gifs in the mix as well. See if you can spot our committee members Rebecca, Michal, Ella, Amelie and U-Krit in the selection!
