The colours have come out bright and strong and the raw clay appears toasted. I am enjoying the simple look of the partially unglazed exteriors and seeing the shapes stand out on their own in their natural state.

The kiln filled with my work , I have now lit a flame underneath it and I am “ firing” today. What ever gave me the idea of making pots? Long story. I love it, I enjoy the variety of skills involved in making pottery…. Never a dull moment. A long day ahead tweaking the gas burners slowly up to 1280 degrees centigrade. Fingers crossed and the results will be here in a couple of days.

Never thought that installing a biomass boiler 11 years ago, I would be using the boiler room not just to dry clothes and wetsuits but also my pots so I can glaze them. Firing coming up … watch this space !
