Baxenden Golf Club Captain recently welcomed Lady Captain Joan Whittaker from Whalley Golf Club as part of her remarkable fundraising challenge.

Joan and her team were taking on the impressive feat of playing eight East Lancashire golf nine hole courses in a single day, raising funds for several worthy causes, including Prostate Cancer, a charity proudly supported by Baxenden Golf Club.

After completing another leg of their challenge, Joan and her team enjoyed a well-earned lunch break at Baxenden before heading off to Green Haworth for their next nine holes.

A fantastic effort and an inspiring challenge. Everyone at Baxenden Golf Club was delighted to support Joan and wishes her every success with her fundraising.

Well done, Lady Captain!

🌧🏌️‍♂️🏆 **Burnley v Blackburn Grudge Match 2026** 🏆🏌️‍♂️🌧

The weather wasn't great, but the turnout certainly was!

Another fantastic Burnley v Blackburn Grudge Match at Baxenden Golf Club saw players battle through the rain, enjoy a superb BBQ and round off the day with a brilliant live singer. As always, the golf was competitive, the banter was relentless and the scorecards were subjected to more scrutiny than a Premier League VAR check.

After all the calculations, recounts and investigations, the final score stood at:

🔴 **Burnley – 530.9**
🔵 **Blackburn – 532.0**

A mere 1.1 points separated the teams, with Blackburn narrowly lifting the cup and earning a year's worth of bragging rights. Burnley have already submitted an official request for VAR to review several suspiciously long putts, generous gimmes and at least one score that looked "optimistic" at best. Unfortunately, the decision remains... **Blackburn win.**

Until then, Blackburn can enjoy the trophy, Burnley can enjoy debating the VAR decisions, and everyone can look back on another cracking day at Baxenden Golf Club.

Well thanks to todays lovely June weather we have had to cancel the Captains of Seniors Prize. But even on a rainy and cold day the hanging baskets around the clubhouse which have been kindly donated by the senior section brighten the place up.

🏌️‍♀️ A fantastic achievement for our ladies at Baxenden Golf Club! 🏌️‍♀️

It was great to see five ladies from Baxenden Golf Club competing in the qualifying round and Mabel Stones Trophy of the Ladies Observer Cup, held last weekend at Rossendale Golf Club.

From our quintet, Sarah Nicholson produced an outstanding performance, not only qualifying for the Finals in September but also winning the Front 9 Competition with an excellent score of 20 points. Sarah narrowly missed out on the Mabel Stones Trophy by just 4 points – a tremendous effort and a credit to the club!

Our Ladies Section continues to go from strength to strength, with increasing numbers enjoying the game and the friendly atmosphere at Baxenden. Whether you're interested in taking up golf for the first time, returning to the game after a break, or looking for a change of club or even a second club membership, we have a range of membership options and offers to suit all.
