AYFC 1-3 DOUGLAS YOUTH

An unfortunate defeat for the boys tonight but plenty of positives to take away from the performance. We defended brilliantly throughout and created several great chances especially in the second half that were unlucky not to find the back of the net. Douglas would see themselves reduced to 10 late on in the second half but we couldn’t take advantage of this to reduce the deficit. With many boys making their debut tonight the coaches were extremely proud of the way the boys got stuck in tonight and fought for each other. A positive sign going into the rest of the campaign.

🏆Man of the Match tonight would go to Harry who was simply outstanding at centre half. Him and Callum stopped most attacks that came their way and were first to every ball and aerial duel. A brilliant debut with great attitude shown throughout.

AYFC 9-2 KIRRIE THISTLE

A good result to kick off our pre-season this afternoon as we ran out 9-2 winners against Kirrie. With chances for plenty more goals squandered, the game was primarily about getting minutes into the legs before our season starts in a few weeks time.

Thanks to Kirrie for travelling through for the game and we wish them all the best for the forthcoming season.

🏆⚽️Players’ Player of the Year - Nathan Jones⚽️🏆

The Players’ Player of the Year award goes to Nathan Jones. Voted for by his teammates, this award reflects how high in regard the rest of the team hold him. His commitment, determination, and consistent performances have made him an invaluable part of the team. Always willing to work hard for those around him, Nathan has led by example both on and off the pitch. He has made the man of the match awards difficult as he could have justifiably earned this most weeks.

Being recognised by your fellow players is a special achievement, making this a thoroughly deserved award for an outstanding season. He even managed to sneak a smile out last night😉🤣

The Player of the Year award goes to TJ Murray. TJ has been outstanding throughout the season, consistently leading by example with his performances, work rate and commitment to the team. He also just finished behind Cameron in the top goalscorer race, with many assists also being key. A fully deserved winner of the Player of the Year award and recognition for an exceptional campaign.

🏆⚽️Most Consistent - Callum Mackenzie⚽️🏆

The Most Consistent Player award goes to Callum Mackenzie. Throughout the season, Callum delivered high-quality performances week after week always giving his best for the team. Callum rarely missed a training session and his reliability, commitment and positive attitude made him a player the team could depend on in every match. Whether things were going well or the team faced challenges, Callum maintained his standards and set a great example for those around him.
