Another tough but competitive game on Sunday saw the boys lose out to Bonnyton 09s at KG5.
Two late goals put a bit of gloss on the scoreline and although Bonnyton deserved the points the scoreline was a bit harsh on our lads.
A good battle when needed but good football on display also.
Plenty of positives to build on.
Good luck to Bonnyton for the rest of the season

The team opened their league campaign against Largs 2009s at KG5.
A tough, niggly game with a couple of flashpoints but overall a good competitive game.
After going 1-0 up the boys were disappointed to concede an equaliser after switching off at a quickly taken free kick.
With 9 mins to go the inevitable happened and a rash challenge on the edge of the box led to a penalty which Largs slotted home well.
A day of what might’ve been - we missed a penalty in the first half and didn’t take advantage of numerical superiority after Largs had a man sent off for a poor challenge on our keeper. We even managed to level up the numbers after one of our lads made a silly challenge after the ball was dead to get red carded himself 🤦🏻♂️
A valuable learning experience all round

Day two of the Land O Burns saw the boys face off against Giffnock in the first game of the day.
Due to a couple of injuries from the day before and a couple of late call offs in the morning, we were down to the bare bones of a squad with 13 boys
Despite going a goal behind against the run of play, the team clicked into gear and soon took command of the game moving 3-1 ahead with 5 mins to go. However one screamer into the top corner and one crazy bouncing free kick drew the scores level at 3-3. Disappointed not to get the win as the score certainly didn’t reflect the game.
That result meant we topped a strong group of ourselves, Giffnock, Parkmoor and Troon for the Cup and moved into the semi finals to face Boswell from the other group.
A strange semi final as we were poor first half and rightly went in at HT 1-0 behind (in truth it could’ve been more)
Credit to the team - we asked for a response and the second half we certainly got it. The boys were far more on the front foot and were definitely the better team. We pushed for the equaliser and created a good few chances but just couldn’t take them.
It felt like “one of those days” and sure enough as we pressed, Boswell got the break of the ball from a clearance ricochet in behind our defence which led to a cut back and finish to make it 2-0 with a couple of mins to go.
We kept going but simply ran out of time to get it back.
Proud of the boys digging in and most of the style of play all weekend - good tournament to play as part of pre season which will stand us in good stead for the season ahead.

The boys had their first pre season warm up game against GHSFP 2010s Blues today at Belmont Academy.
A competitive game with good minutes for every player and despite a few expected rough edges, the boys played pretty well all things considered.
Second half in particular we started to move the ball about well creating chances and our second goal was a cracking finish!
Many thanks to Greenock for coming down today and all the best for the upcoming season

Pre-season work well underway.
The boys worked really hard - the “Box of Doom” as it was christened wasn’t as bad as first feared lol 💪🏻💪🏻
