Banbridge Walking Football Club

On Saturday our over 60's team travelled to Drogheda to play in the 3rd round of AUL tournament.

Firstly the team met at our sponsors the Banville Hotel for coffee and scones supplied by the hotel.

With injuries and holidays the team went with just eight men.

The first game against Willow Park was very close losing 1-0.

The second game against Sligo winning 2-0 and our third game against Drogheda winning 1-0.

With the complete days results, Banbridge are still in top position - one point clear of Willow Park.

Also a big thank you to irish league team Drogheda United for letting the tournament be played at their home pitch.

Really enjoyable morning at Avoneil Friendly Tournament. With 4 games to play the team faired really well with two nil-nil draws and two 1-nil wins.

There was a break for an hour for mens health stalks and after the match was over a very nice lunch.

What a great day for Banbridge Walking Football over 60's, playing their AUL 2nd league matches at home.

Their 1st game was against league leaders Willow Park fron Athlone and from the start Banbridge took control and ran out winners by 4 goals to nil.

Second game was against Sligo which ended with 3-0 win for the home team.

Their last game against Drogheda proved to be very tight with Banbridge taking the lead but Drogheda pulling level late on in the game.

With these results it leaves Banbridge in a good position for the next round of games.

This Saturday 9th May sees the second round of AUL over 60's league matches at Havelock Park with teams travelling from Athlone, Drogheda and Sligo.

Banbridge will be hoping for some good results, sitting second in the league and playing at home.

The games start at 12pm and everyone is welcome to cheer the boys on.

It's springtime. Time for you to take a step in the right direction. If it's for fun, enjoying football, a bit of fitness, friendship and good craic then give it a try.
From 7th April Tuesday evenings 8 to 9pm or Saturdays 3 to 4pm Havelock Park is the place for you. You would be made most welcome.

Last weekend our over 60's team started their league campaign with the long journey to Athlone. There they played 3 matches and came away with some great results.
1st game Banbridge 1 Sligo 1
2nd game Willow Pk Athlone 2 Banbridge 2
3rd game Drogheda 0 Banbridge 3
It was very well organised and the hospitality was great. Banbridge can be well pleased and the team spirit was excellent. We look forward to 9th May when Banbridge entertain the next round of games at Havelock Park.
