Another fine win to take us to the halfway point in the season! A heroic team effort in the field restricted our opponents, aided by some fine bowling from Stu Burgess and Skipper Ed Frape! Tommy Hodgson on debut for Sibford CC steered us to a close fought win, backed up by the explosive Will Eagles!

A special thank you to Evenley Cricket Club for a well played match. Also a huge thank you for allowing us to play you again at your fabulous venue in August!

After a few tough losses Sibford bounced back with a thrilling win over Kings Sutton Cricket Club . Sibford won the toss and bowled, restricting Kings Sutton to 127-7 in a rain reduced game. Our chase looked in peril at 90-7 but a sterling rear guard effort by Ben Pratt and Wayne Slater saw us over the line! A big thanks to Kings Sutton for a well played and close game and all credit to them for getting a good pitch prepared in difficult conditions. We look forward to playing them again later in the season!

Matt Wood hit an impressive 55 off 53, but he was completely outshone by his 16 year old son, Barney, who thumped 105 off 121 balls! A truly special knock for those that witnessed it!!!

An impressive bowling performance followed and we restricted Maids Moreton to 150!

3 wickets to Barney Wood, Lee Gilbert and Ed Frape!

A fantastic end to the season as we have beaten Hanslope by 10 wickets and finished the season undefeated!

Hanslope won the toss and elected to bat. They lost an early wicket to the bowling of Tom Wood, but Hanslope formed a dangerous looking partnership, leading them to 45 for 3. The partnership was broken by Barney Wood, from there, Hanslope were only able to score another 23 runs for their remaining 7 wickets. Standout performance by Archie Wood, 2-2 in 7 overs, restricting Hanslope to 68.

Sibford's reply saw captain Alex Beaumont-Dark and Dave Widdecomb finish the run chase without loss with scores of 35 and 27 respectively.

This season has been very different from the usual, for obvious reasons, but we would like to thank every single team we have played against, for playing under difficult and unusual circumstances.

Hopefully next year we will get a full season in and contend for the SNCL Division 1 title!

What a weekend of cricket! Two very close games, one at Old Trafford and one at Sibford.

Sibford lost the toss Vs Helmdon and were asked to bowl first.

A wonderful opening spell from young quick Tom Wood reduced Helmdon to 31 for 3 after 10 overs. Helmdon recovered with an excellent hundred from Lee Marland and they finished their 40 overs on 185 for 9

Highlights:
Lee Marland 102

Tom Wood 4-14

Sibford's reply started well with a solid opening partnership of 37. Then followed some excellent bowling which restricted Sibford to just 22 runs in their next 11 overs.

Matt Wood came in at 5 with Sibford needing 135 runs in 18 overs and played with great fluency for his 44, getting Sibford within 75 of their target with 12 overs to go.

Ben Pratt and Alex Beaumont-Dark then hit a quickfire partnership of 68 in 9 overs to put Sibford on top.

The late wicket of Ben Pratt wasn't enough to stop Sibford though and Sam Horner finished of the game, with 5 balls to spare, sweeping their opening bowler for 4, off just his second ball!

Highlights:
Matt Wood 44
Alex Beaumont-Dark 38*

Paul Thomas 3-32

A genuine team effort to win yesterday and Sibford remain undefeated in this shortened season.

It's great to be back!!

Sibford CC played Radway at home yesterday in our first competitive game since last August and came away with a brilliant win, with the young, up and coming players, stealing the show!

Sibford won the toss and put Radway into bat.

Radway got off to a slow start and lost a few early wickets. They looked to be steadying the ship, until young Barney Wood ripped through the Radway line up, taking a very impressive 5-17!

Radway finished on 126, which felt like a slightly sub par total, plenty of work to do for the batsmen though!

Sibford's reply got off to a slightly shaky start, losing both openers early, leaving the score 30-2. Matt Allen and young Ben Pratt steadied the ship (and the nerves of the batsmen waiting to bat), putting on a partnership of 67. Matt finished on 40 and Ben played an excellent innings and ended the innings 38*.

Well played everyone, let's hope next week is as successful!
