What struck me most?
More than anything from the running events at explorr on Sunday, it was the number of local people who told me they were taking part in their first ever event.
5k. 10k. Half marathon. Marathon.
It didn’t matter what the distance was — they had taken that first step.
One person in particular really stuck with me. They had just completed their first ever marathon and crossed the finish line absolutely bouncing. You could see what it meant to them.
And that’s what struck me.
The people of Banchory are getting fit.
People are seeing the value that running, walking and being active can bring to their lives. They’re challenging themselves, meeting people, getting outside and most importantly, enjoying it.
If you’re sitting there thinking “I’m not a runner” — that’s absolutely fine.
You don’t need to sign up for a marathon.
You don’t even need to run.
Just start walking.
Then maybe one day you’ll walk a little faster… then you might break into a jog… and before you know it, you might just become hooked. 🏃♂️
There’s no right distance.
There’s no perfect starting point.
Just start.
Banchory is moving. 👊👍
