Huge thank you to Mayor Craig Blaney for being an enthusiastic supporter of the Seaton Classic 10k, who is even going to give it a go himself!! 🏃🏻‍♂️💛💙

🏃‍♂️ Well… they’ve talked me into it! 🫣

It was a real pleasure to welcome David Seaton and his daughter Jodi to the Parlour today to hear all about the plans for this year’s Seaton Classic 10K.

This is a hugely important event in Bangor’s sporting calendar, and I want to pay tribute to everyone at North Down Athletic Club who puts so much time and effort into organising what is now one of the biggest running events in our area. Bringing together elite athletes, experienced runners and people taking on their first ever 10K is a fantastic achievement.

David has dedicated so much of his life to athletics — as an athlete, coach, official and administrator — and continues to play such an important role in supporting and encouraging runners locally.

And somehow, during our conversation, David and Jodi managed to talk me into giving the race a go myself! 😂

So… couch to 10K in two months. 🫣🏃‍♂️

I think I’m going to need all the encouragement I can get!

The Seaton Classic 10K, sponsored by John Minnis Estate Agents and supported by Ards and North Down Borough Council, takes place on Saturday 26 September.
