Grass root rugby football club, with rugby values, family and fun at its core

🏉 Over 100 Years of Rugby in Barnet

Barnet Elizabethans RFC has been part of the Barnet community since 1919, when a group of local players — many from Queen Elizabeth’s School — came together to form Barnet RFC. After years of sharing pitches and pubs, the club found its true home at Byng Road Playing Fields, where we’ve proudly played ever since. In 1997, Barnet RFC merged with Old Elizabethans

🇵🇹 COIMBRA, HERE WE COME 🇵🇹

This Friday, our U14s board a plane to Portugal for one of European
youth rugby's most respected events — the 26th Torneio Memorial JP,
held annually in Coimbra in honour of João Pedro Leite, a young AAC
Coimbra player who passed away aged just 18.

For 17 boys, 5 coaches and a travelling group of parents, this is the
moment all those wet Sunday mornings, muddy training sessions, long
bus rides to away fixtures and rugby festivals at Byng Road have
been building toward.

Our three fixtures:

🔵 CDUL (Lisbon) — Portugal's most decorated rugby club, reigning
Torneio JP champions, and the club that produces the bulk of
Portugal's age-grade internationals.

⚫⚪ AAC Coimbra — our hosts, the only top-flight Portuguese club
outside Lisbon, with a youth pipeline ranked among the best
in central Portugal.

🔵⚪ Sport Clube do Porto — a proud Porto club at the heart of
northern Portuguese rugby's revival.

Three brilliant clubs. Three different challenges. One BERFC.

Massive thanks to:
• Coaches Kev, Ant, Remi, Colin and Simon for getting the squad ready
• The parents and supporters travelling with us
• Everyone at BERFC who has helped get this tour off the ground

If you're back home and want to follow along, we'll be posting from
the tour all weekend.

To our boys: enjoy every minute. Wear the shirt with pride. Look
after each other. The whole club is behind you.
