I’ve had a long time off posting, but yesterday deserves a match report. Mr Freeze ice cool for the Stute.

St Chads away.

After a long journey we arrived at St Chads and mick tossed and won. However electing to bowl didn’t go down too well with the lads still hanging from the Whitehurst wedding (congrats Shaun and Kelly from all at the stute).

But this started well Brad taking a wicket with a beauty 2nd ball leaving the hosts 0-1. However Jake the roughest man in St Chads opening from the Church End gave the batters a more comfy ride.
In an awesome spell of bowling Brad had the hosts 83-7. He was on for all 10 with 4.4 overs of his 14 left to bowl.
Brad had even managed to gain a little fan club of cricket fans, Geordies down to watch England Pakistan. These lads were awesome to have at the game and even blasted a rendition of Jerusalem.
Ash ruined the hope of Brad getting all 10 with the 8th wicket to fall. Ash celebrated by shouting to his brother F**k you spud. A few balls later Ash got his second leaving the hosts 86-9. Some stubborn tail end batter led to a double bowling change with mick and Jordan coming into the attack. It didn’t take long for Elmer Budgie to get his rabbit, with a shocking ball. The host all out for 119.

Brad finishing with figures of 14 overs 3 maidens 45 runs and 7 wickets. Awesome from Spud.

After the break, the stutes heavy weight opening partnership Buj and Don, looked to get things on there way. But things didn’t start well Don creamed a straight drive back to the bowler who took a sharp caught and bowled.
Ash then joined Budge but after 1 ball and a waft outside of stump Ash left budge. Not the start we wanted now 1-2. Guesty was the next man in. Guesty smashed a massive six but the joined Don and Ash back in the pavilion. Dave Roe the next man to walk to the middle. This brought a little calm with Dave and Buj building a nice little partnership of 39 but Buj 28 was next to fall with the score on 54-4. But the stute love a collapse Jordan was next in and out for 2 the Dave roe fell for 21, the roughest man in St Chads batting was on par with his bowling a 3 ball duck made it a day to forget for Jake Whitehurst.
The score now 61-7 was looking a massive ask. The Stute needed a man to step up and score some runs. Brad and Eric at the crease, Eric smashing a lovely four through his favourite mid wicket area. St Chads changed the field to block that shot, no Problem for Ecka who blasted a 6 over square leg. Eric soon fell to leave the Stute in a perilous position 79-8.
The Geordie spectators blasting barmy army and more Jerusalem still had there man at the crease in Brad.
Brad took the lead and started to score at a great rate, and keeping as much strike as possible. Craig Buxton hung with Brad moving the score to 106-9.
In walked the Stute Leach Ben Brown, scoring a single off his first ball and backing up scampering singles to keep Brad on strike. Brad scored another boundary the came 5 wides. The score were level. Then came another wide to seal the victory.
Brad finishing unbeaten on 33 of 38 balls with 7 fours, batting for 56 minutes after the monumental bowling effort. Ben Leach at the other end 1 not out.

What a game of cricket, thanks to St Chads and the Bradley Newton fan club for making it a day to remember.

Village cricket at its best. Thanks to Jess, Mark, Lyndsey, Joanne, Amara, Tommy and Ollie for supporting the lads.
Also thanks to Kirsty for scoring and supporting.
A long trip to make to support the boys.

It goes with out saying, today’s Man of the match was Mr Freeze Brad ‘spud’ Newton.
