⚽️❤️ Wombwell Town vs Ackworth Girls (Home Friendly) ❤️⚽️

We welcomed Ackworth Girls to Wombwell Town for a last-minute friendly after they got in touch looking for a game, and it proved to be a fantastic test for our girls. 👏⚽

The Wellers kept things tight for the opening 10 minutes, battling for every ball, staying organised and working incredibly hard to keep Ackworth at bay. 💪❤️

As the game went on, Ackworth showed their quality and took control with a couple of well-worked goals. They were a very strong side and a year older than our girls, making it a brilliant learning experience for the team. 👏⚽

It just wasn’t our day, and things didn’t quite click in the way they usually do. After the break, Ackworth added a couple more goals and fully deserved their victory. Every player in a Wombwell shirt kept working, listening and learning, taking valuable lessons from all over the pitch against excellent opposition. These are the games that help the girls develop, and they’ll be stronger for the experience. ❤️💙

⚽️❤️ Wombwell Town vs Dunscroft Warriors (Home Friendly) ❤️⚽️

Another brilliant morning of football as we welcomed Dunscroft Warriors to Wombwell Town for a friendly. A huge credit to our visitors, who played the game in a fantastic spirit and never stopped working right until the final whistle. 👏⚽

A special mention also goes to today’s referee, who was brilliant with both teams, taking the time to help the girls understand the game and making it a really positive experience for everyone. ❤️👏

The Wellers started brightly and raced into the lead with two quick-fire goals from Jemima, who was in the right place at the right time to get us off to the perfect start! ⚽️⚽️🔥

After the break, Ivy-Mae added another goal to the scoresheet, but her performance was about so much more than scoring. Her relentless pressing meant the opposition never had a moment on the ball, constantly forcing mistakes and creating chances for the team. 💪⚽

Credit also has to go to the Dunscroft goalkeeper, who pulled off some fantastic saves throughout the game to keep her side in it. 🧤👏

Dunscroft dusted themselves down, kept battling and fought back brilliantly to level the game right on the full-time whistle, rounding off an entertaining match between two excellent teams. 👏❤️

⭐️ Player of the Match – Ivy-Mae ⭐️

Ivy-Mae was an absolute pressing machine after coming on, giving the opposition no time on the ball and working tirelessly for the team. She was constantly forcing mistakes, creating chances and was unlucky not to come away with even more goals. 👏🔥⚽

🏆 Parents’ Player of the Match – Poppy 🏆

Poppy was a defensive unit all game, reading the play brilliantly, making some superb tackles and giving absolutely everything for the team. A fantastic all-round performance! 🛡️💪❤️
