Another brilliant session from our U7 Blues Thursday night. The boys worked incredibly hard and showed fantastic effort throughout every drill. We saw some: passing & movement, ball control, shooting & finishing and some great defending as a team! The progress this team continues to make every single week is fantastic!

🦅💙TOURNAMENT HOSTS…TOURNAMENT FINALISTS…WHAT A DAY!💙🦅(excuse the long post but we are beaming with pride!)

Where do we even begin… Today, Hoyland Common Falcons hosted our very own tournament at the Falcons own facility, and what a day it turned out to be! From the first whistle to the last, the boys gave absolutely everything they had. We battled through a very tough group against some fantastic teams, playing some outstanding football along the way. Every game demanded hard work and determination. Reaching the FINAL of our own tournament was something truly special. We came up against a fantastic Wombwell Main side and after an incredibly even and competitive game, we just fell short at the final hurdle, finishing as runners-up. But today wasn’t about trophies, it was about watching a group of young boys show courage, resilience, teamwork and friendship. Every single one of them walked off that pitch having made us unbelievably proud.

One of the biggest highlights of the entire day had to be facing our fellow Falcons, the Reds, for the very first time. What a game. Seeing two Hoyland Common Falcons teams competing against each other was something really special. It was competitive and exciting but once again the boys worked hard and come out with the win sending them through to the final. Both teams were absolutely brilliant and deserve enormous credit. A huge congratulations to the Reds, you were fantastic and we can’t wait for many more Falcons vs Falcons battles in the years ahead!

As for our Blues… wow. We simply couldn’t choose a Player of the Tournament because every single one of the boys played such a huge part in getting us all the way to the final. Marley – Our goalkeeper was absolutely outstanding today. His confidence has grown tenfold, making some brilliant saves throughout the tournament. His decision making about when to come out, when to stay big and when to retreat was incredible. Tommy sponsored by LCW Groundworks Limited, one of our defenders – Tommy just kept getting better and better as the day went on. His confidence grew with every match, and by the semi-final he was simply outstanding. Calm, composed and fearless, there wasn’t a ball getting past him. Olly sponsored by M.A.M Roofing Specialists, one of our defenders – What a worker. Olly never stopped running from the first whistle to the last. He gives absolutely everything every single game, works tirelessly for the team and showed fantastic quality whenever he had the ball. An outstanding tournament. Spencer sponsored by Mint & Co, one of our midfielders – Spencer was involved in absolutely everything today. He battled for every ball, never backed out of a challenge and worked tirelessly for his teammates. To top it all off, he even bagged himself a few goals! Archer sponsored by HashtagTattoos AtLauras, midfielder – Archer is improving every single week and his confidence continues to grow. He even stepped into goal when the team needed him. Brilliant! Noah sponsored by Ells Designs , midfielder – Noah showed exactly what this team is all about - determination, effort and playing for the badge. His confidence is growing every week and his defensive clearance in the semi-final was absolutely massive, helping the team at a crucial moment. Vinnie, our striker– What can we say? Our striker is an absolute goal machine! Vinnie just never stops working. He scores goals for fun but also works incredibly hard for the team, tracking back, defending and leading the line with endless energy. An outstanding display all day long. Watching these boys together is something really special. If this is what these boys can achieve before the season has even started, we genuinely cannot wait to see what lies ahead.

Their football is improving every single week, but even more importantly, so are their friendships. They encourage each other, celebrate together, pick each other up and genuinely love playing as a team. Nathan, Nathan and Oz honestly couldn’t be any prouder of every single one of these lads. A massive thank you also goes to parents and extended family who cheered the boys on all day long. Your support never goes unnoticed.

Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s our Hoyland Common Falcons U7 Tournament tomorrow! 🎉

We’ll have a food van, ice cream van and a bouncy castle, so it should be a fantastic day for everyone. It would be great to see as many of our supporters with their families there as possible to support us!

🚗 Parking is £5 (cash or card accepted), with 50% of all parking fees being donated to Barnsley Hospice in memory of Jamie Willis. Thank you for helping us support such a worthwhile cause.

Another fantastic evening of training for our Falcons! We were incredibly lucky to have a brilliant coach join us tonight, and it was also great to welcome some new boys along to train with us. Every single one of them did an amazing job and fitted straight in! Tonight’s session focused on developing our ball work, working on: dribbling, drag backs, turning with the ball, close control. The effort from every player was absolutely outstanding. The boys worked their socks off, listened really well and put a shift in. All the hard work is putting us in a great position ahead of our tournament this Saturday, and we can’t wait to see the boys continue their progress.
