Happy Mothers Day to all our footy mums 💐⚽️

Grassroots football has thousands of heroes…
but many of them are standing quietly on the sidelines.

The early mornings.
The lost shin pads.
The post-match pep talks.
The cold mornings with a folding chair.

Today we celebrate the mums who make grassroots football possible. ❤️⚽

Happy Mother’s Day to our wonderful footy Mum’s. Cleaning our muddy boots, washing our footy shirts, hoovering those tiny tiny bits of black rubber that trail behind us, coordinating our games, reminding us to enjoy it, taking on all our worry, commiserating and congratulating better than anyone, ferrying us all over and just being our biggest fans. We are the luckiest Team to have you all on the sidelines ❤️⚽️

Sunday 23rd November.

A draw for us today against Hoyland Falcons. Although it was a strong performance by all the Team, the Coaches commented how difficult it was to make substitutions as all the lads were effective in their respective positions. It’s so good to see everyone developing, and to see their confidence improving week on week.

It was a tough pitch to score on with the heavy ground today, and our opponents showed real tenacity - but overall, we had the better chances and were unlucky not to get the win.

Today’s well deserved MoM was the Brick Wall - Max. Max was all over the pitch, with a commanding performance in the middle of the park. Max worked box to box and never tired. The opposition Coaches provided some great feedback for Max too. Max was unfortunate not to get his goal today after full length of the pitch run, but we celebrate the effort and today Max put in 100%. Smashed it! Kindly sponsored by Barnsley Timber

Today’s Parents MoM was Edward. Edward has become a core player in the team and it showed with his calm presence in all the positions he played today. Edward was composed on the ball and showed good decision making throughout the game. Well done Edward. Kindly sponsored by Excel Bespoke Plaster Ltd

Boys looking smart in their Away Kits - as always a big thankyou to Europa Truck Parts Ltd

Wow! What a game! A very healthy scoreline along with a clean sheet!

The teamwork and fitness really seems to be coming back together and we’re all so proud. We know we have a few tough tests ahead, but if the lads play like they did today and they could give most teams a game.

Almost anyone could have got parents player or MoM today with their performances but that doesn’t take away from a standout performance from Adam - our Coaches MoM. Adam was solid throughout the game, he linked up play from the left wing and was absolutely solid in defence with perfect positioning. Keep it up Adam, you’ve smashed it today! Today’s Parents MOM was Joseph (after a tie break on the sidelines). Joseph was threatening throughout the game from the midfield and from the wing. He worked so hard from start to finish and bagged a hat trick for his efforts. Kindly Sponsored by JW ELEC

Special Coaches highlight today was Joseph and Jude thinking between themselves to copy the corner routine from our opposition, and then getting a goal from it, excellent initiative!

Keep going lads! We’re all so proud of you! ⚫️⚪️

2nd November 2025

A well deserved win for us today against a Team we’ve previously lost to.

The lads have really put into practice what the Coaches have asked them to do the last few weeks - working as a team, creating overloads and really using their team mates. Most importantly, they have worked their socks off.

Some special mentions to give out for today’s game - Seth and Edward in the net. With our goalie off on his jollies this week we needed the Team to step up, and they certainly did. Edward with his immaculate composure and Seth with at least 3 massive saves and a ‘picture perfect’ pass the full length of the pitch.

Today’s Coaches MOM was Noah. Noah is a consistent performer, who the Team relies on week after week, but today he fully deserved player of the match as he went above and beyond to seal us our much needed win. Strong and aggressive in the tackle but always looking to find a team mate after collecting the ball. Well done Noah! Kindly sponsored by Clark’s Chemist

Parents MOM today was Arthur. Arthur was awarded this today for his none stop work ethic coupled with an unbelievable assist, taking on 3 players to take us 2 goals clear and relieve the pressure from Porter. Well done Arthur! Kindly Sponsored by PTJ Catering

What a bunch ⚫️⚪️

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them’.

19th October 2025.

A tough loss for us in today’s cup game. We played a great game of football, as did Thurcroft. Not much in it between teams and we had so many chances to equalise, even win, and we just couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net.

However, we celebrate the effort not the result and today that effort level was 100%.

Highlighting that effort was today’s MoM, Seth. Seth worked so hard for his team, got stuck in and most importantly - he kept going. The Coaches felt Seth really took on board what they’ve been working on in training. Well in Seth-y!

Parents Player today was our wonderful goalie, who pulled some absolute worldie saves. Well done from all the Parents cheering you on on the sidelines.

We go again next week - back to our league games, back on home turf ⚽️

12th October 2025

Another difficult game for us today against a higher division, fantastic Wombwell Main Team. Again, a technically better team than us, but with us only being a goal down at half time we need to work on how we perform on the second half. And we know we can take that on board.

MoM AND Parents MoM today was Joseph. Joseph deservedly winning both awards this week with pure determination. With the score line what it was Joseph continued to break up play in midfield and made runs at his opponent. Well done from us all the sidelines.

Leaders are made in tough times! We go again next week! ⚫️⚪️

Not the result we wanted at this game, Wombwell Town were the stronger team technically and were a really strong opposition. Having said that, our Boys never gave up and continued to work hard and we know they will keep going 💪🏻

MoM today was Edward. Absolutely well deserved, and has been for the last few weeks. Edward continues to improve his composure on the ball and it’s a joy to watch him week on week. A true sportsman. Well done Edward!

Parents MoM today was Jude. Jude worked his socks off and continually put Wombwell under pressure, resulting in a great goal (let’s not mention the goal though - that’ll be a sore subject for a few weeks 😆). Well done Jude, your tenacity was spotted by all of us cheering on the sidelines!
