4-1 Defeat to Chesterfield. Barnsley started the game very brightly. Surprising the opposition with how well they kept possession & shut down the opposition attack. It looked like we might run away with the game. & we deservedly went 1-0 up through a great move between Zara & Eleanor who finished into the far corner. Eleanor then hit the crossbar & we had a few other strikes narrowly miss the net. Chesterfield then pulled a goal back against the run of play with what looked a clear offside. A few minutes later Chesterfield took the lead with a stunning strike from outside the box as one of their magical midfielders found themselves free. They then made it 3 a few minutes later when their midfielder found themselves free again outside the box. & smashed in another stunning strike . Barnsley struggled to keep in the game in the last 15 minutes before halftime. 2nd half we regrouped & pushed to get back in the game. The opposition goalkeeper pulled off a stunning save to tip a certain shot on goal round the post. For the 1st 25 minutes we looked to be edging our way back into it. Pe***ng our opponents back we just couldn’t get that clear chance to put the ball away. As the game went on Barnsley seemed to accept their fate . Doubt crept in & Chesterfield again took over the game. With a few minutes left they added a 4th through an individual piece of brilliant skill. Their right forward beat our left back to drive inside the box & fired in a stunning strike into the roof of the the net. Overall a fiercely competitive game that could have gone either way. Chesterfield played some great football in spells. As did we. They have some very talented players & probably the best central midfield in the league. We thoroughly enjoyed the game & wish them well for the rest of the season. Player of the match was our Superb stand in goalkeeper Kelsey. Last two games she’s really helped us out. Having no recognised keeper. She raced off her line time after to time . Bravely diving at the players feet to s***f out an attack. She was so good you wouldn’t know she’s a cracking centre mid to go with it. Another notable performance from Orla who was superb in defence . Along with the super hard working Bailee & Eve to limit direct shots on goal within our box.
We haven’t posted for a while. Weve been kind of busy. But here’s a low down of recent results.

Saturday 27/9/25 Match Report
This week we hosted Division 1 league leaders Chesterfield FC. Coming out 2-1 winners. We started the game brightly. Exploiting weaknesses in the opposition back line. Gaining a few opportunities to go through on goal. The opposition keeper came out & swept up well. We also hit a few tame shots that we’re comfortable saves for the keeper. Chesterfield then got to grips with the game. Playing some excellent possession based football. We had to soak up a lot of pressure for long periods. But despite Chesterfields dominance on the ball . We limited them to shots from distance & managed to negate their attack when they got in our box. Chesterfield really turned up the screw. Blacks found it difficult to get out of their own half. But when we got the ball to our forwards. Blacks looked capable of scoring on the counter. Right on half time. Akira played a ball to Eleanor who tried to play in Zara again 1st time. Chesterfield cleared the ball straight back to Eleanor. Who hit a 40 yard rocket with her weaker foot. To lob the keeper with a goal of the season contender. 2nd half Chesterfield upped the pressure again. Playing some sublime football. They finally worked a ball to a free player in our box. Who cooly finished in the far corner after an excellent move. Blacks wouldn’t be denied & as Chesterfield began to tire. Chesterfield lumped a goal kick up the pitch. But Sophi pressured the defender to steal the ball & switch play to Evelyn outside the box. With 2 players around her she turned out & laid a pass to Eleanor. Who was already setting herself to strike. As the ball came towards her she chipped & lobbed the ball into the top corner with another goal of the season contender with her weaker foot. Chesterfield continued to pressure our defence again. But whenever they got through out came Golden Gloves Ellie to pick up the ball. Chesterfield began to tire & we got more of a foothold in the game. We started to connect from midfield into attack. With Kelsey putting her shot wide from just outside the box. Zara then got in on goal again but could only find the side netting. Our football wasn’t the prettiest today. That was down to the opposition being so good in possession to distort our shape. But we battled . Learned the level we need to be at technically & gave everything we had. Akira was our player of the match. Time & again she won the ball back in midfield. A great performance of graft from her. Flo also made a notable contribution. Last 20-30 minutes she really upped her game & started seeing more of the ball in midfield. Next week we host last seasons Cup Finalists Dronfield Black.
