Sheffield FC Youth U13 3–3 Staincross Rangers U13
A tough one to take today as we came away from Sheffield FC with a 3–3 draw, despite creating more than enough opportunities to win the game.
We played some really good football, particularly in the first half, and created chance after chance. Oscar gave us the lead with a brilliant strike from outside the box, before Zack added two excellent goals of his own. On another day, we could have had several more.
Sheffield’s first goal was something you simply have to applaud, a fantastic strike from 20+ yards straight into the top corner. They continued to carry a threat and Oliver was excellent again in goal, making a number of really important saves.
We were 3–1 ahead going into the final ten minutes, and I have to take some responsibility for how the game finished. I changed the formation to try and see the win out, but in hindsight it disrupted us more than it helped and invited a bit too much pressure.
Sheffield pulled one back in the 58th minute, before scoring again in the 61st minute with virtually the last kick of the game to make it 3–3.
The boys were understandably gutted at full time. They had worked incredibly hard, created plenty of chances and certainly didn’t deserve to leave without all three points. There are lessons in there for the players and for me as a coach, but also a huge amount to be positive about.
⭐ Player of the Match: Oscar
🏆 Players’ Player of the Match: Ant
A frustrating result, but another performance with plenty to build on.
