it’s all been a bit quiet lately on the page and that’s because the lads have been smashing it and working really hard behind the scenes.

Tournament season is in full flow and the lads are putting on a show. Our second tournament of the summer saw us take a short trip down the road to Wombwell town. The lads landed themselves in the toughest group with every other team in pots above them and had lost to a few of these teams heavily just before Christmas. The lads come out and startled every single team they played and only dropped 1 goal in the group stages which was a 1-0 loss to Darnall side that knocked 8 passed us before. The lads took that as their only loss on the day and went on to have a thrilling final against Wombwell Main, the match ended honours even and penalties decided what was a fantastic contest. The falcons come out on top with a fantastic save from Max and a couple of great penalties to secure it.

RILEY - player of the tournament he run his blood to water, got his body in, was moving the ball with ease, driving at opposition with pace and never stopped recovering to support his team. Outstanding contribution.

Our third tournament saw us hosting our own tournament at the Falcons Facility. The lads ended up in another tough group with the likes of Stocksbridge and Pen*stone church. The lads played some immense football and went all day unbeaten until the final where Redfearns pipped us to the trophy winning 1-0. Always a please to play our good friends and one day I’m sure we will get over the line against them.

A big big highlight of the day was the first ever game between both the Falcons Teams Reds and Blues. A fantastic closely contested game but again the lads worked hard and come away edging the contest showing immense character and once again elite mentality winning by penalties. The Reds have come so far and were absolutely solid throughout. A pleasure to watch what we are creating at this club and a very proud Chairman watching what talent we have in the club. Well done both teams UTF!!!!

Riley - no words needed, immense and a consistently amazing player recently with the right attitude.

Max - fantastic in the net another penalty shootout masterclass in the net and pulled off some worldie saves. Most impressive was the lads playing home and max been comfortable, taking the ball on the back foot and then playing back wide to get us moving up the pitch.

Overall the lads have all come out firing this summer and next season looks very exciting. In so proud to have led this team with Brad and Harry with the parents behind us. Backing us through thick and thin and now getting to enjoy the fruits of our labour with some top class performances from the lads for everyone involved to enjoy.

Lightning Elite Group Ltd are still backing us and without them this stuff wouldn’t be possible, kits, training gear, full backing and going above and beyond for the club. A massive credit to the lads and community they serve.

⚽️⚽️ SHEFFIELD UNITED ⚽️⚽️

Once again, SHEFFIELD UNITED, have been into the Falcons Nest and been stealing our young falcons. This time our Keeper MAXIMUS THE GREAT.

Yesterday at our tournament, Max came away on the day with most clean sheets and really showcased his ability as a goalkeeper. I’ve never seen a kid at this age enjoy been a keeper as much. His shot stopping ability is fantastic but not just that, he brings communication organising the lads, he brings confidence and gets his name on every ball and throws himself into danger for the good of his team, he takes the ball on the back foot and distributes wide into space, this lad really does have it all and with this opportunity I’m sure he will FLY!!!!

His performance yesterday earned him an opportunity to go and train at SHEFFIELD UNITED. This is very well deserved and everyone at the club is excited.

At our presentation night last night, Max walked away with the SAFE HANDS AWARD, this was very well deserved and this opportunity really caps off a magnificent first football season for him.

Max is now the 2nd player in 4 months to be picked from our squad at different events. What we are building here at The Falcons is special and we hope this continues for years to come.

⚽️ FIRST TOURNAMENT AS UNDER 8’s ⚽️

A big day for the team and the lads yesterday. We had our first tournament as Under 8’s and then went into the evening capping off our first ever campaign and recognising everyone’s hard work and success.

Firstly, we headed down the A1 to Edlington. They were fantastic hosts with a very well run tournament. A big day for the lads as there were teams in this tournament who 12 months ago beat us convincingly. This was a tournament that would hep us understand exactly how the lads have developed over the course of this season.

The lads worked hard all day from the first whistle to very last and we got to see all the hard work come together. The lads went unbeaten all day, with the most clean sheets and manage their games well in the quick format. Some of the football on show was fantastic and something we were all taken back by was how hungry the lads were to win the ball back once it was lost. This was key to their success, but a trait that we had not seen from every single player until yesterday.

This has given us plenty to work on and learn from but also filled us with pride as we feel it capped off a really great year of development and set us on our way of what will now be new journey, with a different set of challenges as the lads grow and become tested in the league with tougher opposition. A fantastic day for the lads, the parents and the club. The future definitely looks bright.

Today the lads went out and finished the season in style. After their semi final last week, they come into the final this week with only the trophy on their minds.

The lads followed on from the semi final last week in the same manor, focussing on quality of passes, creating space, working hard off the ball and most importantly enjoying their goal scoring. We aren’t going to write loads about it as ultimately the last two week they have come out and done a job for each other.

A fantastic way to round of their first campaign in football as a team. 2 losses since Christmas in total and some silverware for good measure.

16 months ago we picked these lads up from scratch. Some having never really kicked a ball. To see the journey they have been on is incredible. The development is immense, the hard work they all put in is to be admired. Every single person associated with this group of lads are proud to be involved and get to witness this growth week in week out.

Not only have they grown as a team, but also grown as friends making memories for life, bringing us coaches and parents closer together than ever and really giving us a future to look forward to.
