Another student was promoted last night after lots of hard work. Well done Fin, stand proud as an 8th Kyu. More gradings are on the way before Sensei has his official yearly holiday in October alongside half term. Renshi Cook has offered to run limited classes in his stead and students who train on Thursdays are invited to attend Mondays/ Tuesdays in place.🥋🇯🇵

Sensei has also been breaking in a new Gi, a thoughtful present courtesy of Renshi Steve Best 🇯🇵

Well done everyone for a great lesson last night. Kime No Kata for the higher grades, Roku No Kata and techniques for the middle grades and one of our juniors taking their first steps into training as an adult.

And another 8th Kyu has joined our ranks after a successful grading. Congratulations Steve 💪

It's only 1 month until our seminar so keep October 10th free from 10:00-16:00. Yes, it's a Saturday, but it's a great way to spend the day! 🥋🇯🇵

More excellent work again in the Dojo last night. Working on movement and softness we looked at absorbing attacks and how to move faster without speeding up... Yes, it's possible!

We also awarded another great student their 8th Kyu Red Belt with more students in line for grading soon.

Our first potential black belt student is just over a year away now, everyone in the Dojo is behind him and we're all looking forward to when the day comes 🇯🇵🥋

Juniors only (and well behaved parents)
5:30-6:30pm -Fun for the family and essential skills

Adults only
6:30-8:00pm - Grading techniques and 1-2-1 tuition

Steve Sensei is back on the mats from next week after a short break and time to rest and recover. Thank you to Renshi Cook and Renshi Small for running private sessions in Karate, Karate Jutsu, Aikido and Aiki Jo throughout August

New students are welcome to apply for a September start but places will be limited. This helps us keep classes at a manageable size so we can continue to deliver quality Japanese martial arts tuition.

A huge thank you to Kyoshi Bill Griffiths for spending some time with us on the mats over the last few days.

Last night we looked at some really simple but highly effective movements and elements of Jujitsu... How to get close and relocate ribs, keeping control of an attacker and the mindset needed to carry out the techniques. And some valuable pointers on control during locks, transitioning from lock to lock and countering.

As someone who has lived, breathed and used Jujitsu for such a long time he showed us the importance of finishing things quickly and easily, staying on your feet and in control (not on the ground, very dangerous and vulnerable place to be), and more importantly why we do what we do when we have to do it.

Kyoshi Bill will be back in October for The Butokukai Fellowship Trust seminar we have planned for then.
