Match Report 25th April ⚽️ 💙 ✨
Last league game of the season, brilliant weather, fresh cut grass and footballs pumped up they could bounce for miles.
The boys were under the cosh in the initial stages with Scotter having more of the ball and attacking offensively needing a cool calm and collected goalkeeper in Edward to keep them at bay. Counter attacking football was witnessed in those first ten minutes. Seth carrying the ball with slick dribbling, gliding and balance needed Finn to be on scooter to keep up with Seths pace. Seth applied some brilliant finishes with definite improvement seen by the coaches in Seth using his right foot. Shout out to Finn getting in the right positions and communicating his availability to slot the balls home if it came.
The Pumas grew into the game with holding of positional shapes from a defensive stance, knowing when to press and when on the ball getting the ball through the gaps for some brilliant clinical finishes. Todays game was equally as enjoyable to watch for the coaches as the week before and top it off we was able to head to the pub afterwards with the boys and grown ups equally ecstatic!
⚽️Supporters Player
Charlie was back in the team today and didnt we know. Charlie was tenacious, great battling, hold up play, passing through the gaps, dribbling and only hit the post 3 times! Charlie deserved a goal today for his efforts, Charlie brings much more to the team and we all felt this was another great game played by Charlie, well done Charlie up the mariners 👏 👌 👍 .
⚽️Coaches Player(s)
Seth's dribbling skills are on another planet sometimes. The speed Seth can move with the ball had the referee having to shift a gear or two today in the heat. Seth is exceptional every game and brings a high level technical ability to the Pumas. We wanted to celebrate the technical abilities of Seth today, we think very highly of him and his game has developed brilliantly this season. Well done Seth 👏👌.
🏆Oscar H - Early Presentation Trophy - Most Improved Player
I could repeat the reflection from last weeks performance for Oscar but a reflection over the course of the season.
Oscar is a brilliant young person and an important member of the team. Oscar is someone we have known from Sunday sessions needing time and assurance to have a positive experience with football. Oscar at times can find social situations an overwhelming experience and we see the enjoyment he gets from football that helps him overcome this. Oscar is an observational learner and when shown how to practice a technique, a drill he will deliver in a game scenario.
Oscar's tough tackling, no nonsense approach, speed, strength, dribbling and his ability to pick out a pass has shifted him on loads in his football development. Socially Oscar has grown into the group and has made great relationships and we can see he looks happy and enjoying his football. Well done Oscar H massively deserved 👏 👍 👌.
Next weekend the boys are at home for a friendly against Bottesford 10am kick off. Sunday 3rd May 3pm Barton United JFC presentation at the cricket club come down to support the club with raffle prizes to be won!

Match Report 18th April ⚽️ 💙 ✨
The boys were back at there 1st home ground after many months away and a freshly lined pitch for a friendly game against Burton United. The boys were close to full strength with only Charlie missing from the group today.
The boys were out of the traps from the start capitalising with an early lead to settle us quickly. Recent training sessions have worked on movement off the ball and throughballs inbetween the gaps. Todays game was enjoyable to watch for the coaches by being able to watch areas we practice on in training play out in real game situations. The Pumas looked in fine form to say a two week break and no doubt a chocolate filled one the boys looked full of energy. Sequences of passing, decision making, movement and some sublime finishes was a continued reflection of wanting to develop the right way and no let up when the team rotates.
⚽️Supporters Player- Fin sponsored by FMT supporting Cancer Research
Finn was on fire today, playing larger periods in his favoured position up top to begin with... Finn's technical attributes, passing and what we saw a new development in Finn today was his movement off the ball moving forward for the ball to be released upto him before completing a tidy finish. Finn scored a top effort freekick today and played an all round great performance showing good defensive work. We are very happy with Finns development in the last few weeks, most importantly enjoying himself as an important member of our team, well done Finn 👏 👌 👍 .
⚽️Coaches Player(s) Edward sponsored by FMT supporting Cancer Research
Edward mixed it up today playing outifeld and doing a stint back in goal today. Edward shows so much effort, determination every game but today was about confidence boosting. We want all the boys to have good self belief, confidence and resilience as football can encourage all these characteristics. Edward was super today, getting down low making quality saves, good distribution and communication with his team mates. Outfield Edward was in the thick of the action at the other end, Edward was so unlucky not to score today and its only a matter of time. Great game Edward massive player for the Pumas 👏👌.
⚽️ Oscar H - sponsored by Lou’s Clean Sweep
Oscar is currently learning a new position for the Pumas, the coaches have recognised his tough tackling, no nonsense approach, speed, strength and his ability to pick out a pass from his offensive attributes produces a steely performance from Oscar today in defense. Oscar is developing well in this position with the importance of promoting opportunities for all the boys to try different positions adds to the flexible approach we can take in games. Well done Oscar great game today 👏 👍.
A big thankyou to Nicky today setting up and serving the tea, coffee, hot chocolate and snacks for the Barton and away teams this morning massively appreciated!
Next weekend the boys are back at home for the last league game of the season against Scotter JFC 10am kick off.

Match Report 28th March ⚽️ 💙 ✨
The boys were on the road today with an early start at Dunscroft, our sponsor was happy with the 10 minute drive and lie in - not so much for the rest of us. The boys were close to full strength with only Fin missing from the group today.
The boys took the lead early doors, Oscar P's fine form and confidence is great to watch and shows how important confidence supports development and self-esteem building. The shape, movement and passing in the first quarter is a reminder to us as coaches how far the boys have developed. If it wasn't for the brilliance of the opposition goalkeeper it could have been a one sided quarter for the Pumas.
We know how important goalkeepers are in football and this proved in today's game. Both keepers showed fine goalkeeping and it felt we had a goalkeeper wars spin off during the game. We don’t particuarly keep statistics but a rough estimate the Pumas had the most shots on target in today's game, than in any game we have watched and it felt like it maybe just one of those days again.
The remaining quarters continued with the same approach, the Pumas controlling the game but not just able to capitalise on the chances with a feeling of urgency and anxiety in the boys, possibly trying too hard which in turn can create mistakes.
The scoreline didnt reflect the performance but a continued measure of development is volumes. We haven't played many teams who are passing and moving as we are and that is testament to the boys practicing and the resilience to sticking to such principles even if the scoreline doesn't always reflect the result.
⚽️ Supporters Player- Oscar P sponsored by Pampered Physiques With Amelia
Oscar P the main man today ... his technical attributes, turning in tight areas, movement on and off the ball shows his reading and understanding of the game is on another level. Oscar played an all round great performance braking up play, fine passing, brilliant dribbling, close control and scored two quality finishes. We are very happy with Oscars development the last few werks, an important member of our team showing some fine form, well done Oscar👏 👌 👍 .
⚽️ Coaches Player(s) Arthur sponsored by pine Lodge Thornton Curtis
Arthur in goal did a rabona today as a pass and made it look smooth, much to the anxiety of the coaches, he knew what he was doing. Arthur is our main goalkeeper at the moment and he was agile as a cat with some fine saves one in particularly on the line. Good distribution and communication with his team mates. Great game Arthur just keep the rabonas to one or two a game 👏👌.
Next weekend the boys have a well deserved break with Easter approaching. We are back at our 1st home ground Barrow on the 11th April in a friendly against Brigg Town. Just maybe the tea and coffee service maybe back up and running! ☕️

Match Report 21st March ⚽️ 💙 ✨
The Pumas were at home for a 3rd battle with Wright Way Sports, who have been a great team to play against this season. We were not at full strength today with Seth and Oscar H missing from the group.
The coaches discussed in the preparation before the game with the boys that development and progression is how we define the season and on game day to minimise what the end result is, whether we win or lose.
The boys in the first quarter played some of the best passing sequences we have seen from the Pumas this season. Some say it was similar to Argentinas 24 pass goal sequence except we just didnt quite get the goal! The opposition coach told us how unlucky we were in not going a few goals up as they just nicked it at the end of the first quarter to put themselves in the lead.
The Pumas regrouped as they often do showing great resilience and got themselves back into the game. The game was an enjoyable one with end to end play, good passing sequences, individual skill and coach Tom's massive enjoyment of seeing good tackles and battles at all ends of the pitch from both sides.
The boys played a great game again. With the season drawing to a close, we have most definetly seen development and most importantly enjoyment and passion from the boys, well done today Pumas.
Football Supporters Player- Finn sponsored by FMT supporting cancer research.
Finn, the main man today ... his technical attributes, turning in tight areas and releasing the ball at the right time has shown his understanding of the drills we practice spreading the ball into open play created opportunities. Finn played an all round great performance braking up play, fine passing range and scored two quality finishes with inches away from a hatrick. We are very happy for Finn, an important member of our team coming into some fine form, well done Finn 👏 👌 👍 .
Football Coaches Player(s)- Charlie sponsored by Gladwin Bros Farms
Charlie is a kind, softly spoken, funny and highly intelligent young person who happens to be one of if not the best passers of the ball we have in the group. What we liked about Charlie today was his tenacity, determination and the winning of his duels. We spoke before the game to provide assurance the difference between safe tackling and unsafe tackling so Charlie could reduce some of his fears he may hurt someone accidently. Charlie won his battles and as always set us up with great passing and deserved his coaches trophy today 👏👌.
Football Coaches Player(s)- Ruben sponsored by phoeberae.tattoo
we wanted to provide Ruben with a small appreciation today playing outfield and in goal. Ruben is enthusiastic, a team player and tried his absolute best when he was in goal today. Ruben made some great saves (one with his face we may add) and his distribution was brilliant. Well done today Rubes good effort! 👌 💪
Next weekend the boys are away to Dunscroft Warriors - early start 09:30 kick off.

Match report 15th March ⚽️ 💙✨
The Pumas were close to full strength only missing Finn due to an injury he picked up in training.
Confidence and assurance has been the two words we have associated with the Pumas in the last few games. The first quarter we played in the same vein of form good passing and movement, the holding of the shape made it difficult for the opposition to move forward, we was just not able to capitalise. We joke about this next part with a smidge of seriousness. We lent the other team some spare goaly gloves today and we may look on that with regret as the ball stuck to there keepers hands like super glue.
It felt like it might just be one of those days for the Pumas and that lady luck was against us. The opposition team leapt on two chances that put them into the lead and this gave them momentum. The Pumas regrouped and got themselves back into the game. We explained to the boys that sometimes football does not go the way we expect but to continue with the same commitment and effort is the most important.
The boys played with just that upto the final whistle, we reset and go again.
Supporters Player- Albie sponsored by phoeberae.tattoo
Albie typified commitment and effort to the cause today. His engine to drive the ball forward, direct running and desire to win the ball helps set the standard when it comes to commitment and effort. Albies new development is showing he can carry the ball forward dare we say Gerrard esque comparisons, only Albie to develop when to pull the trigger to have a shot when its the better option. Played a great game today well done Albie 👏 👌 👍 .
Coaches Player- Edward sponsored by FMT supporting Cancer research
Edward impressed us today for something different than his normal impressive self. The goalkeeper position is the hardest position to play in a football team as errors are unfortunately judged differently to when possession is lost, an interception missed or a goalscoring opportunity not taken. Edward is our youngest payer but has massive resilience and determination. Edward is stepping out of his goaly keeping for a period to experience more outfield opportunities. We are sure we will be writing about Edward in a different way over the upcoming months. Thankyou Edward for your commitment and determination to the Pumas. 👏👌
Next weekend the boys are at our second home to Wright Way Sports 10am kick off.

Match report 7th March ⚽️ 💙 ✨
The Pumas were at full strength today giving us many options and rotation opportunities.
Seth wore our captain armband in the first quarter taking an offensive position attacking and defending from the front. Seth’s all action approach and communication skills set the tone.
Things continue to tick along nicely for the Pumas at the moment, playing with confidence and assurance.
The first 20 mins was a deadlock game with the Pumas having the better of the chances but just missing the target. It felt like a goal was coming and the floodgates would open. And that was the case. Charlie continues to show a unique ability to weight the ball to start our attacking play and put Seth in to start us off.
The movement of the boys once the passing got going drove us into a fine lead. Precision, fast thinking and practice practice practice resulted in 4 fine moves of great skill from Oscar P, Oscar H, Seth and Finn, this was great for us as observers. To add, the harrying from the front made Finns efforts worth it with a grand finish away from the keeper to round up the goalscoring today.
It's important to note solid foundations make the team and that's down to our defensive attributes, Edward, Albie, Ruben, Arthur, Finn and Charlie who have consistently over the past few weeks provided some defensive displays and a greater understanding of positional awareness.
The boys played a great game lots of positives and all in all deserved plaudits for their efforts, let the form continue.
⚽️ Supporters Player— Oscar sponsored by Pampered Physiques With Amelia
Oscar P had that glint in his eye today and wow did he put on a performance. Oscar's fast thinking actions was just a step ahead of the opposition today playing some fine balls in the attacking third, dribbling in the right moments and a fine finish, top bins may we add. Equally we were impressed with Oscars defensive display today guiding the opposition players away from goal ensured an all round great performance, well done Oscar👏👌.
⚽️ Coaches Player(s) - Oscar sponsored by Lou’s Clean Sweep
Oscar H impressed us today for something different than his normal impressive self. Oscar's harrying, tackling and can only be described as shuttle runs getting back last moment interceptions and clearing up has given us the coaches something to think about for Oscar's football development. We'll deserved today Oscar great all round game 👏👌.
Next weekend the boys are away to Bottesford DB 09:30am kick off.

Match report 28th February 💙 ⚽️ ✨
The boys were impressed we managed to play two games in a row and the joys of playing on a muddy pitch fit for a pig pen brought great joy to the adult chauffeurs who bring the boys in their not so clean cars after today's game.
The Pumas were at full strength today giving us many options and rotation opportunities.
Charlie wore our captain armband in the first quarter taking an offensive position attacking and defending from the front. Charlie's vision and passing attributes continue to impress the coaches providing many assists and throughballs to set us up nicely in the first quarter.
Things are starting to tick along nicely for the Pumas at the moment, starting well, the shape with and without the ball was evident, pressing, passing, communicating and massive efforts put in by all.
The Pumas took the lead with Seth getting into the rhythm of finding the net in quick succession to give the team a buffer to play with even more confidence in the next quarter.
Rotation took place, Oscar P took the armband showing good communication skills to support teammates and leadership qualities helping the team as Oscar said like Bruno Fernandes playing in the same attacking mid role. Oscar showed good carrying off the ball and his quick instincts when taking dribble ins to get us on the front foot.
Finn came back into the side, Finn did a good job hoovering up in a defensive midfield position any throughballs that came through. Finn helped us keep our shape and pass the ball nicely along to support assists and attacks. Oscar H played a good game today taking on board the practice and guidance from the coaching team to move into positions after releasing the ball making great strides in his understanding of the game.
Albie continues to be a rolls royce in the team showing continued levels to his game and a joy to watch his development and an important member of the team. Rubens impressive display today in breaking up play, his passing range and his game intelligence improves on every game.
Our keepers Arthur and Edward were on top form today both taking up captain duties, commanding of their box, distribution was their own decision making with the only 1 goal conceded today.
The boys played a great game lots of positives and all in all deserved plaudits for there efforts.
⚽️ Supporters Player
Ruben sponsored by phoeberae.tattoo
Ruben continues to be one of our standout performers this season. Rubens breakup of play, reading of the game and knowing when to intercept is celebrated as much as we score goals! Having players like Ruben to do the dirty work makes the Pumas a great team.👏👌.
⚽️ Coaches Player(s)
Seth sponsored by Broadfields Plastering and Decorating.
Seth was magic. Seth took on board from the coaches the challenges with dribbling due to the pitch being cut up and to look for pass and move opportunities, Seth accepted the challenge. He passed, he moved, he scored. He also showed his brilliant dribbling skills which often results in scoring. We think maybe 5 or 6 happened today not quite 6-7!
Well done Seth great performance 👏 👍.
⚽️Albie sponsored by Phoeberae tattoo
Albie is not a naturally self confident player but someone who is emotionally attuned and thrives off encouragement and praise. Albie was colossal as ever, our very own virgil van dijk. What we want to value is sportsmanship and support of any young person playing football. Albie took it on himself without prompt to check a player was okay who came off injured from the opposing team. Credit to Albie and his continued skill development at football.
Next weekend the boys are at our 2nd home again Baysgarth School against Appleby Frodingham 10am kick off.
