⚽ Barton United Pumas U9 vs Brigg Town ⚽️

The Pumas faced a tough test against Brigg Town today, with Albie and Arthur unavailable, leaving the team short in defence and unable to rotate goalkeepers.

Despite this, the boys started brightly, working well together and producing some excellent passing sequences from front to back.

It was a balanced and competitive game throughout, with both teams playing some great football and defending well. The Pumas showed fantastic teamwork, determination and resilience, continually battling back when things went against them.

There were some brilliant passages of play, well-worked attacking moves and great finishes. The boys never gave up, showing real desire and fighting spirit right until the final whistle.

Every single Puma put in a fantastic shift today and should be really proud of their performance. A great team effort full of hard work, togetherness and determination!

Well done, Pumas!💙🖤⚽

⚽️ Match Report 10th October

🏆 League Cup 🏆

The Pumas were back at home in the cup today against Keadby Razors with an opportunity to get through to the next round. The Pumas were at full strength with everyone available.

The game was a balanced start with chances close from both teams showing early on it was going to be a close fought game. The Pumas broke the deadlock first with a good sequence of passing play, a through ball and Seth was put in giving the Pumas the lead.
The boys have worked on closing down in training and learning from the previous game to close down spaces quicker and to maintain defensive shape through tracking back, which helped the shift from attacking, to defensive back to attack.

Today wasnt just about the outfield players, goalkeepers from both teams made some great saves and kept the intensity of the game at a maximum throughout. Keadby played some good football, good pressing making it hard for the Pumas who had to keep responding and cancelling them out as a wave of chances came at the Pumas goal. Keadby came back into the game but this didnt deter the Pumas going onto take the lead again and adding to their scoreline.

The game continued as a fast paced game with little room or time on the ball and credit to both teams it was a good battle. Keadby never gave up and they brought the game into a draw at the last kick of the game to take the game to penalties. The boys held there nerve scoring all their penalties, which saw them through to the next round.

⚽️ Supporters Player- Ruben sponsored by phoeberae.tattoo
Ruben was the breakup king today, showing good awareness and scanning to break up any throughballs or the opposition players breaking through. Not only that, Ruben showed his good passing range and moved forward with the ball morphing into Declan Rice even if it was just for a few seconds. Great game today Ruben, full commitment and maximum effort well done! 👏 👌 👍 .

⚽️ Coaches Player (s) - Edward sponsored Alien Kitchen.
Edward .... second weekend on the bounce coaches player. Edward was exceptional in goal again, his bravery, brilliant saves and all round game was well deserved coaches player again. Great game today Edward well done, keeps the Halloween trophy for a second week 👏👌.

🏅We also want to thank our permanent referee Oliver, who gets grief (more from the Pumas coaches) but each week refs the game with fairness and clear communication. We are very lucky to have him.

🌟 Thankyou to all our supporters on the sidelines who support the boys week in and week out from terrible training weather to cold matchdays.
Thankyou from the coaches.

⚽️ Game Summary 3rd October

The Pumas were back in the league today away at Burton United with the Halloween trophy up for grabs. The Pumas were at full strength with everyone available.

The boys didnt quite get going in the early stages not being as sharp as our previous week. This gave the opposition time on the ball and not closing down of the spaces which gifted Burton the lead with two fine finishes that there was little Arthur could do.

‘React’ is coach Tom’s favourite word and the Pumas did just that! The boys fought back into it playing some nice passing and moving, closing down spaces and brought the game level showing the levels the boys have been playing recently. Rotations took place in the next quarter and the Pumas began to take control of the game with some fine throughballs, passing play starting from the back and taking the lead. The game continued as a fast paced game with little room or time on the ball meant 1st and 2nd winnings of the ball in the middle of the pitch were important to determine the outcome. We agreed as a group that today was a character building day with lots to continue practicing on to take into our next game.

🏆 The Pumas are back at home in the 2nd round of the cup against Keadby Razors 10th October 10am kick off.

⚽️ Supporters Player- Fin sponsored by Rachel Wilson Law.
Finn has continued his fine pre season form showing tremendous development in his understanding of the game, communication to teammates, passing, tracking back and technical attributes dribbling and finishing has been a joy to watch. Finn had a good game today scoring a great individual goal curling one into the corner of the goal, well done Finn! 👏 👌 👍 .

⚽️ Coaches Player - Edward sponsored by Alien Kitchen.
Edward .... self belief can sometimes be difficult for any player more so as a keeper as goals conceded get noticed more than a goal scoring opportunity being missed. Edward was reminded in training to believe in his abilities and to keep working on his game. We know being a goalkeeper can be scary diving at peoples feet and requires bravery. Edward just did that today, Edward was brave, commanding and made some brilliant saves. Great game today Edward well deserved coaches player and the first Halloween trophy of the month 👏👌.

⚽️ Arthur
🏆 Number 1
🌟 Sponsored by Harry's Hatchery

There was once a boy who did gymnastics in goal,
Handstands and cartwheels and sometimes a roll.
Time moved on, his focus became strong.
An ‘Arthur special’ goal kick is how he was known before long!
A big voice, big personality, big heart and big force,
And usually a bag of fiery Doritos in hand of course!

Thank you for continuing to be a Puma Arthur!

Small but mighty, you really are,
Your little sidekick watching, he’s never far,
Brave, determined and fearless too,
Making your dad proud, with every drill you do!
Saving shots: keeping in the zone,
And sometimes having a run and scoring one of your own!

Thank you for being a Puma Edward!

⚽️ Game Summary 26th September

The Pumas were in the first round of the cup today wearing the new home kit ,just to confuse everyone, at an away game.

The boys were focused from the get go and started very fast, looking sharp, commanding in all areas of the pitch. The Pumas have practiced movement inbetween shapes and tracking back when possession was lost and winning the possession back to restart an attack. The boys continue to put everything into practice looking comfortable on the ball composed and showed great passing and moving of the ball. The team showed their end product today, clinically taking chances with a great goalscoring performance from multiple players.
🌟 Well done to all the boys today a great team performance and onwards into the second round. 🌟

Football Supporters Player: Charlie sponsored by Gladwin Bros
Charlie is looking comfortable in the middle of the park, we know how versatile he is but showing us where his strengths are. Charlie's positional play when in midfield was his self awareness in recognising when to be in a defensive or attacking position and communicating with his team mates. Charlie's passing ability is a great strength, assisting through balls were on point today. To cap off a great performance, Charlie scored a tidy finish which was a joy to watch. We can see the confidence oozing within Charlie, well done! 👏 👌 👍 .

Football Coaches Player Albie, sponsored by J3 Roofing Ltd
Albie won every duel, his positional awareness knowing when to press or when to hold off shows his game intelligence. Albies composure on the ball knowing when to pass or go past someone showed a very competent performance. Albies lightning pace was exemplary of how a defender should play in tracking back and putting off the opposition attacker in the final third. Great game today, well deserved coaches player 👏👌.

Cool as a cucumber, as chilled as can be,
Working smarter not harder is what we see.
Consistent passes, finding their man,
Just believe in yourself , we know you can!
I’m not sure Charlie will ever ‘react’,
But he loves being a Puma… that is a fact!

Thank you for being a Puma Charlie!
