WOWZERS….What a weekend! 🌳🌲👟🌛🪵🌦️🔥
It’s very hard to put such a big and exciting event into a little social media post but we wanted to check in (now we’ve caught up on some Zzzz’s🥱) and say a HUGE congratulations to all the runners that braved the somewhat challenging weather with grit and determination and especially our winner, Max who crossed the line on lap 20 grinning from ear to ear and getting us all teary eyed at his achievement.
A Backyard Ultra is an extremely tough event; it’s brutal and harsh, pushing people out of their comfort zones and plunging them into the depths of endurance (exactly how Laz Lake wants them to be!).
As organisers, we can never get over the amount of camaraderie that unfolds as runners take on lap after lap. There’s a magic about the friendships formed as limits are tested, and this year the weather added another layer to an already tough course. However, we watched as the runners achieved incredible distances, pushed for PBs, raised money for charity, and celebrated their victories, all supported by family and friends.
A last-minute course change, which we had thankfully anticipated, meant that our runners didn’t get to enjoy the haven that Godsfield Copse normally provides, but instead got more spectacular Hampshire scenery, skirting around the edge of the woods and navigating some slip and slide elements the course provided 😝
We can’t post without thanking our team of crew and volunteers who did everything from walking the course, helping with set-up and take-down, supporting the runners, making us tea and a million other jobs that make the Backyard so successful.
The Backyard is a three-day setup and a full day to take down, and we couldn’t do it without the support of the crew and volunteers.
As always, huge thanks also to Matt and Anna at Chilton Manor Farm, who support our event every year – and lend us the course for the day.

📷We are busy working on photos and will have details of next year’s event ready soon. If you ran this year’s event, please leave us a review. We love to hear from you and about your experience.

Fancy joining the Blended crew for a few hours on the 6th or 7th June?
We’re on the lookout for some enthusiastic folk to donate a few hours of their time at our next event, The Backyard Ultra. As well as supporting the runners as they complete lap after lap of the course at the beautiful Chilton Manor Farm, you’ll get to hang out with some of the cheeriest folk you could ever hope to meet - and we’ll chuck in a few easy duties to make it even more fun.
There’s no marshalling required for this course, but we are looking for help with the following:
🌳A couple of people to walk the course in the mornings and afternoons to check for hazards and ensure the course is safe.
🌲A walkthrough of Godsfield Copse to hang lights on Saturday evening
🌳General help with registration on Friday evening (5th June)
🌲Keeping an eye on the fuel table and ensuring it’s well-stocked and tidy
🌝A night-owl or two to assist with seeing the runners in overnight and keeping the campfire cosy.
If you can spare a few hours, please email [email protected] or DM us here. We’d love to see you!
Have a great bank holiday weekend!

We’re back for our 5th year at the beautiful Chilton Manor Farm for The Hard Yard! We are always so happy to hold an event here, and the trails just keep getting better.
🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲
This year, we’ve switched things up a little and decided to focus all our energy on our epic 10-mile route. After fantastic feedback last year, it was obvious to us that our 10 miler is a firm favourite and deserves some spotlight of its own.
Starting at the farm, this route winds through the Candovers, taking in beautiful views of this corner of Hampshire, and finishes on the now-iconic, yew-tree-lined avenue, where a friendly welcome from our crew awaits.
With friendly tail runners and no cut-off time, this is a great run for those looking for a bit more of a challenge. Run with friends or race solo, you’ll be well supported by our crew and receive a bespoke medal (and a banana!🍌)when you’re finished.

🍌🦖Wow…what a weekend! Where do we start? The inflatable banana and t-rex having a Simon Says dance off, clouds of colour EVERYWHERE, the MIGHTY Phil Spencer taking liberties with our air horn… or, we could talk about Andy’s Caribbean fruit cake that gave us a cheeky (and very boozy) hit of afternoon energy -(and the inability to drive home after.)
Let’s focus on the main event… the fantastic sight of 180 trail runners gliding through the beautiful countryside around Froyle, fuelled up on bacon rolls and some potent village hall coffee (at least we now know why the Froyle VH team have so much energy)
This was a new event for us, and we jumped at the chance to hold a trail run in the pretty village of Froyle, surrounded by incredible Hampshire countryside. Working with the Froyle community has been great, and we felt very welcomed by the friendly team.
The day started as all our trail events do… a little bit murky, but we kicked things off with our bright and vibrant colour dash. The recreation ground was soon filled with clouds of colour, and we even tricked some parents into helping! The run crew looked like they had far too much fun, and we may never know whether blue-coloured powder comes out of white trainers, but it was 100% worth it.
Next up was time for the grown-ups to get their (type 2) fun, and with the help of the lovely Phil Spencer, we set 180 runners off around the Hampshire countryside, accompanied by the sounds of a dying air-horn, expertly handled by Mr Spencer until its last breath - RIP airhorn 📯
As usual, the sun made an appearance when it was good and ready - just as our runners started crossing the finish line to the now familiar sounds of our cowbells and the gift of a bespoke nature-inspired medal.
Froyle was an absolute dream, and we had a brilliant day. We hope all our runners, big and small, did too.
If you ran and you’d like to leave us a review, please do - it helps us know whether we should be planning more events or going into early retirement, plus you could win a place in The Hard Yard or a cool beanie just for giving us your thoughts.

Hey folks,
We’ve got just one week to go until our Froyle 10k event, and we can’t wait to get out on the route and get it all marked up. We’ve opened up a few more entries due to popular demand and we’ve got a couple of surprises up our sleeves to make it a truly unique experience (including a very special guest opening the 10k race)
We’ve got a handful of spaces left for our kids’ colour dash, and the crew are excited to get involved (and messy we suspect!)
See you on the start line! 🏁🤗

With just under 2 weeks to go, we’ve started keeping an eye on the weather… whatever it brings, it’s set to be a brilliant day in Froyle.
We’ve got a cracking route lined up. If you haven’t checked out what’s on yet (where have you been?!) head over to the website and take a look.
Entries are nearly full now, so if you’re thinking of joining us, now’s the time.
Expect the usual relaxed, inclusive vibe, a great route, and yes… a hill or two (mostly one up, one down 😉)
Take a look and we’ll see you on the start line!

Hey folks,
Our upcoming 10k at Froyle has something for everyone.
We’re holding a colour dash for runners of the smaller variety!
🟩🟪🟥🟨🟦🟧
Have fun whilst exercising as a family. It’s a short lap (or two) of the recreation ground. Don some snazzy shades and a white tshirt then walk, run, skip or dance your way around the course ground to earn a medal and have some fun.
There’ll be clouds of colour, plenty of cheering and full permission to get properly messy 😎
Enter via the website - only 50 spaces available for the colour dash.

Don’t say we didn’t warn you, ‘cause we definitely did. We’re thrilled to have sold all our tickets to this year’s event, and entries are now closed
If you missed out, but you’d still like to be involved, or you’d like to see how a Backyard Ultra works, we would welcome any helping hands over the weekend, 6th of June, supporting our runners at the corral, keeping the fuel table stocked or, if you have a guitar, strumming a few campfire songs!
Please reach out if you’d like to join us.
2026 runners, expect your first event email in the next few weeks!
