ivities. Our polarised sunglasses are ideal for all outdoor pursuits like fishing, as they enable you to see through the water which is crucial for locating fish or submerged features. Finding your quarry when fishing is the number one key to success. The range of frames and lens colours will suit fly fisherman, carp fisherman and all other guises of coarse fishing! Skiers and Snowboarders will be able to see bumps and hidden ice on the slope, wearing our glasses, which is usually masked by the glare of the sun. Basically, if you spend time outdoors, Fortis Sunglasses are essential. All Fortis Eyewear products effectively filters out 100% of the harmful UVA and UVB rays and are CE certified. What are polarised lenses and how do they work? Light reflected from surfaces such as water, snow or other smooth surfaces is polarised and spreads only as horizontal and vertical waves. This means that, instead of light being scattered in all directions in more usual ways, reflected light generally travels in a more horizontally oriented direction. This creates an annoying and sometimes dangerous intensity of light that we experience as glare. Our Polarised lenses contain a special filter that blocks this type of intense reflected light, reducing glare. The filter is created by heating and stretching a film over the lens resulting in the molecules becoming arranged in parallel fibres. Our polarised lenses are made from a material called CR-39. It has high abrasion resistance, in fact the highest abrasion/scratch resistance of any uncoated optical plastic. Our CR-39 lenses provides very little distortion in fact less than any polycarbonate lenses. It is more lightweight and thinner than glass making it comfortable to wear all day. Other high performance features of our lenses include being more impact resistant than glass and more scratch resistant than polycarbonate.
