**🚨 Unpopular opinion...**
I’m **not against padel.** I’m not against people exercising. If more people are active, that’s a good thing.
But I do think we need to ask a bigger question...
**Are we investing in activities that genuinely change lives, or are we chasing the latest trend?**
Let’s look at the numbers.
Many people are paying **£40–£160+ per month** to play padel once or twice a week. You pay to book a court, organise your own games and, if you want coaching, that’s usually extra.
At **The Martial Method**, it’s **£65 a month** for:
🥊 Unlimited training
👊 Expert coaching every session
💪 Strength, fitness & conditioning
🛡️ Practical self-defence
🧠 Confidence, discipline & resilience
🤝 A community that genuinely wants to see you succeed
Here’s the difference...
**Martial arts aren’t a fad.**
MMA may be a modern sport, but it’s built on disciplines like boxing, wrestling, judo, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai—arts that have been practised, refined and passed down over generations, with some tracing their roots back centuries or even millennia.
Why have they endured?
Because they offer far more than just exercise.
Research consistently shows martial arts can improve physical fitness, mental wellbeing, confidence and resilience. But beyond the science, they teach respect, discipline, perseverance and self-control—qualities that stay with you long after you’ve left the mats.
So my question isn’t whether padel is fun.
I’m sure it is.
My question is this...
**If today’s trend fades tomorrow, what happens to the community spaces we’ve built around it?**
Should we be investing more in activities with a proven track record of developing healthier, stronger and more confident people for life?
Or should we keep following whatever’s popular right now?
I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts. Keep it respectful. 👇
