At Bedford Pumps we have always been justifiably proud of our roots. Today we were lucky enough to be gifted with a beautiful memento of our heritage from the W H Allen Engineering Association (WHAEA). They honoured us with a keepsake line drawing of the pump workshop at the old W H Allen Queens Engineering Works that was located in Queens Park, Bedford.
For those unaware of our history, Bedford Pumps was formed in 1987 by former members of the pump department at NEI (W H Allen) after the company closed their pump manufacturing facility within the town. The Bedford Pump Company became Bedford Pumps Ltd and then part of the Hidrostal Group and to this day are a flexible, highly experienced British manufacturer of robust pumping plant for the water, wastewater, flood control and dock industries.

Flashback Friday. A flick through the Bedford Pumps archive pulled up a case study from a few years ago where our pumps were used for drought alleviation in Australia. As temperatures soar across the UK with the prolonged heatwave, reports forecast that this weekend and early next week will bring record breaking temperatures with red levels warnings in place across the country. As river levels recede and reservoir levels fall due to the ongoing dry spell it is so important that we each do our bit to water.
Bedford Pumps are experts in supplying pumping solutions for extreme weather conditions, let’s all work together to manage this precious resource in our scorcher of a summer.

What a beautiful day to enjoy a hog roast at Bedford Pumps! We were delighted to welcome colleagues old and new, and welcome back some familiar faces from retirement to join us for some fun in the sun.

Congratulations to our Head of Engineering, Daryl Waterman, who has achieved Chartered Engineer status (CEng) and has been elected as a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
Bedford Pumps are fully committed to the development of their employees and are delighted that Daryl’s commitment and competence has now been recognised through the professional engineering body.

Not all Hero’s wear capes! Bedford Pumps like to recognise and reward colleagues who actively demonstrate their key values of Honesty, Empowerment, Respect, Ownership, Excellence and Safety with a monthly Hero of the Month award.
Our current reigning Hero is Charlie Winterford, Site Services Manager for Bedford Pumps. Charlie has been employed by Bedford Pumps for 32 years and his nomination is a direct reflection of his hardworking attributes, excellence, efficiency with the greatest of integrity.

4 weeks to go until our WaterAid Charity Event Open Day which is taking part at our sister companies premises in Avonmouth on the 20th May!
The Bedford Pumps team will be in attendance and we would be delighted if you would like to join us there. To register your interest please email [email protected] and we would be happy to welcome you as our guest.
The day will commence at 10.30am and finish around 2.30pm. A fantastic lunch will be provided by and there will be product demos, factory tours, technical workshops and fairground type stalls and games to raise some money in support of our chosen charity, WaterAid.

Bedford Pumps Ltd are pleased to confirm that our SafeContractor Accreditation has been reaccredited following an assessment of our health & safety documentation which is compared against the charter standards.
The credential is awarded for Pump Services – Pumps Installation, Maintenance & Commissioning and a host of category related activities including confined spaces, working at height, working with hazardous substances and many more.
