John enjoying getting out and about on his new electric wheelchair which was funded by the MND Association and MNDA Bedfordshire. It fits perfectly in the boot of the car and with the hoist makes it easier to get out.
John is very grateful for the funding he received and to all the fund raisers that make this possible 🧡

Understanding the causes of MND is key to finding treatments. That's why we're investing millions of pounds into research.
A mixture of genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors are thought to contribute to the development of MND. Together these 'risk factors' may contribute to the development of MND, but they may not be enough to cause MND on their own.

As reported in the Sunday Times, pharmaceutical company Trace Neuroscience has begun an early-stage clinical trial of TRCN-1023, a potential treatment that could benefit the 97% of people with MND who have sporadic (non-inherited) disease.
Our Chief Scientist, Dr Brian Dickie, said:
"Although this is an early-stage trial, it represents an important step in the search for new, effective treatments for the majority of people with MND."
The MND Association is proud to have jointly funded, with the Medical Research Council, the fundamental research that helped identify this new therapeutic target and support its journey from the laboratory to clinical trial.

Yesterday was the end of the wonderful Bedford Christmas tree festival. This morning we were busy taking down our decorations and found a beautiful card that someone had placed on our tree " in loving memory of their son". Please message me if you put this card on the tree and I will return it to you - its too lovely to dispose of and you may want to put it on your tree. UPDATE - we have spoken to the family who placed the card on the tree and will return it safely to put on their tree for the rest of the festive season
