🤸‍♀️ MOVE OF THE WEEK 🤸‍♂️

This week’s Move of the Week is… the PIKE FOLD! ✨

We know we’ve revisited a second skill in the last couple of weeks, but pike fold is such an important gymnastics shape that we thought it deserved another focus! 💪

This shape helps to develop:
✅ Flexibility
✅ Control
✅ Good posture

It’s something we use across all of our warm-ups as well as in lots of different gymnastics skills and elements throughout training.

Key things to remember:
⭐ Keep your legs straight
⭐ Point your toes
⭐ Reach beyond your feet
⭐ Try to get your head as close to your legs as possible

If you’re practising at home, please make sure you have a clear and safe space with appropriate supervision at all times. We cannot take responsibility for any injuries that occur whilst practising at home.

🤸‍♂️ MOVE OF THE WEEK 🤸‍♀️

This week we’re revisiting one of the most important gymnastics fundamentals… the HANDSTAND! 🙌

With handstands being such a key shape and skill for all of our gymnasts, we thought it was the perfect move to focus on again this week.

✅ Straight arms
✅ Straight legs
✅ Rounded chest
✅ Head looking towards your hands
✅ Feet flexed so only your toes touch the wall

Remember — only your toes and chest should touch the wall! A strong handstand is all about body tension, balance, and control, so focus on holding the correct shape throughout. 💪

If you’re practising at home, please make sure you have a clear and safe space with appropriate supervision at all times. We cannot take responsibility for any injuries that occur whilst practising at home.

It was great to welcome BeActive Beds to Gymnastics Reborn Bedford earlier this week for their team training day 🤸‍♂️

Our gym space was used for some really interesting work around physical literacy, alongside lots of other fantastic activities throughout the day.

💪 Move of the Week: Chin-Up 💪

This week in classes, all of our gymnasts will be working on their chin-ups — an important strength skill that helps build upper body control, power and technique 🤸

Key things to remember:
✔️ Chin rises above the bar
✔️ Straight legs
✔️ Pointed toes
✔️ No swinging on the way up
✔️ Controlled lowering on the way down

If you have a bar at home and would like to practise, please make sure you have a safe space and appropriate supervision at all times. Please note that we cannot take responsibility for any injuries that may occur whilst practising at home.

📣 Move of the Week – Forward Roll 🤸‍♀️

This week’s Move of the Week is the forward roll!

We know this is a couple of days late, but anyone who has visited the Pulloxhill gym this week will know we’ve had some significant changes to our entrance area. Our team have been working incredibly hard behind the scenes putting the final touches in place to get everything ready for parents and visitors.

As a result, we’ll be focusing on forward rolls across all of our classes this week!

✨ Key things to remember:

* Keep your arms straight
* Try to keep knees and feet together
* Tuck your head in and maintain a rounded back
* Try to avoid using your hands to stand up at the end
