❤️💛 LIAM MUCKLE MEMORIAL SHIELD 2026 – £10,212 RAISED 💛❤️
Now that everything has been counted and accounted for, we can officially confirm that this year’s Liam Muckle Memorial Shield raised an incredible £10,212.
(Some monies are still to physically come in, but they have been accounted for within the final total above)
Considering what the weather threw at us, we genuinely could not be prouder.
The rain came, it poured, and at times it certainly tested us — but Berwick and the surrounding area still turned up.
Families came through the gates. People stayed. They supported the football, the stalls, the attractions, the vendors and the whole day.
Most importantly, people came together to remember some very special people.
And that means more to us than any total ever could.
A massive thank you has to go to Berwick Rugby Club for welcoming us and giving the Memorial a home.
You gave us somewhere to bring people together, remember, celebrate lives, play football and create something special for our community.
From everything that happened before the event to all the support on the day itself, we are incredibly grateful.

You are not just a name in a programme, a logo on a poster or a banner around the pitch. You are part of this Memorial.
When you choose to stand behind us, you are standing behind Liam’s name, the families we honour, the charities we support and the community we are trying to bring together.
Some of you have supported us from the very beginning, while others joined us for the first time this year, but every single one of you has become part of what we are building.
And we never, ever take that for granted.
We know businesses are asked to support so many different things throughout the year, which makes the fact that you choose to stand behind us mean even more.

A special thank you also has to go to Newcastle United Foundation for the donations and support they gave us.
Because of that generosity, we have already been able to make a real difference to families in and around Berwick, getting football kits and items into the hands of children who may otherwise have gone without.
That is exactly the kind of legacy we want to keep building — taking the support shown to us and using it to make a positive difference to somebody else.
To every vendor, food trader, stallholder, children’s attraction, player, team and person working behind the scenes — thank you.
You all helped make the day what it was.
A special thank you also to all of our referees who gave up their time to officiate the games throughout the day.
With so much football to get through, your help, professionalism and willingness to be part of the Memorial was hugely appreciated.
The football simply does not happen without you.
And a particularly big thank you to our volunteers.
Events like this simply do not happen without people giving up their own time to help.
From setting up, running activities, helping with parking, collections, stalls, mascots and programmes, to keeping things moving and then clearing everything away afterwards — every single person played their part.
We genuinely could not do this without you.

You gave up your time to capture the day for us, and that means more than you probably realise.
So much happens during a day like this, and once it is over, the photographs are what allow us to look back, remember the moments, share them with families and keep those memories alive.
From the football and presentations to the families, volunteers, supporters and all the little moments in between, you helped us capture the story of the day.
Those photographs will become part of the history of the Liam Muckle Memorial Shield, and we are incredibly grateful to all three of you for helping preserve those memories for us.

And we also want to say something about Allistair.
Allistair is not simply another name connected to this day. He has become part of what the Memorial represents.
Last year, we honoured Liam and Allistair together, and from that point both names became woven into the meaning of the day — two lads remembered, two families surrounded by love, and one community coming together to make sure they are never forgotten.
A huge well done to Coldstream Seniors as well.
And one of the most emotional moments this year was seeing Broony lift his son Liam’s cup.
That was more than a football moment.
It was a dad lifting something carrying his son’s name, surrounded by people who had come together to remember him.
That is what this Memorial is about.
Remembering Liam.
Remembering Allistair.
Remembering all the lads we honour.
And making sure their names continue to be spoken with love and pride.
Liam will always be at the heart of why this began, and Allistair will always hold an important place within what it has become.
To every family who trusted us to honour someone they love — thank you.
We are incredibly grateful to be given that responsibility.
The love shown to every family on the day was something special.
Seeing names remembered, hearing the applause and watching families surrounded by friends, teammates and people from across the community reminded us exactly why we do this.
We are honoured to honour them.
❤️ AND THEN THERE IS BERWICK… ❤️
This is our town — and our town is something special.
Despite the weather, you turned up.
You stayed.
You brought your families.
You supported the football.
You supported the vendors.
You supported the stalls.
You supported the attractions.
You supported the whole day.
People travelled from the surrounding villages, the Borders and further afield too, and every single person added something to the day.
But there is something about seeing your own town get behind something like this that is hard to put into words.
The Liam Muckle Memorial Shield continues to grow because this community keeps standing behind it.
We are proud of where we come from.
We are proud of the people in it.
And we are proud that Berwick and beyond continue to show so much love to the families and to the people we are there to remember.
This is our town. Our community. And our town really is something special.
Please know that when you come through those gates, bring your family, share our posts, support our sponsors, visit our vendors, buy a programme, cheer on the football or simply stand with us during a moment of remembrance — you are part of this too.
And we hope every single person who supported the day feels proud of what we all achieved together.
Our charities will appreciate every single penny raised, and knowing that this total will go on to help others makes all of the work worthwhile.
But this has never just been about a number.
It is about remembrance.
It is about community.
It is about families.
It is about helping others.
It is about keeping names alive.
And it is about leaving something positive behind.
And at the heart of all of that is Liam.
We would give anything for all of this never to have had to begin. It began because we lost Liam, and from that heartache I made a promise to keep his name spoken, his memory alive and his legacy moving forward.
What started as that promise has grown into something so many people now stand behind, and everything we continue to build will always have Liam at the heart of it.
Every time somebody turns up, every time somebody volunteers, every time a business supports us, every time a child gets involved, every time a family feels remembered and every time this community comes together — Liam’s legacy grows a little more.
And already, our attention is turning to 2027.
The dates are confirmed, plans are already being made, and we have some big ideas in the pipeline.
We have big plans for the Memorial and for everything we want to continue building in Liam’s name, and we genuinely cannot wait to share them with you.
As those plans grow, we want our team to grow with them.
We want to expand our committee for 2027 with people who can help us plan, organise, fundraise, bring new ideas and help shape where we go next.
But we also want to build a great team of volunteers around us — people who might not want to sit on a committee but would love to get involved with events, fundraising days, community projects and all the other ideas we have planned throughout the year.
There is going to be far more than just one day, and we want to build a team of good people who believe in what we are trying to do and want to help us make these ideas happen.
