πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ WHAT A FANTASTIC WEEK (AND A BIT!) FOR SJS! πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’™

Last Saturday, the SJS gang got together to celebrate Dannii reaching an incredible 250 parkruns! πŸŽ‰ What a fantastic achievement and such a brilliant morning celebrating together.

Ben also quietly celebrated his 25th parkrun… but nothing gets past us! πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚ A huge well done, Ben! πŸŽ‰

Last Sunday it was York 10K πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

⏱️ Stu joined the pacing team and paced 45 minutes.

πŸ’™ Dannii volunteered as the back marker, making sure every runner made it safely across that finish line.

πŸ”₯ And a HUGE well done to Julia, who took on her very first 10K and absolutely smashed it, bagging a new PB and going under 45 minutes! What a way to run your first 10K! πŸ‘

Today, Phoebe, Harvey, Abbie, Grace and Luke all took part in the Nations 5K, fantastic running from you all! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

⛰️ A massive well done to Chris, who completed the Three Peaks, an amazing achievement!

πŸŽ“ Another huge congratulations to Kev and Glenn, who have both completed their coaching qualifications! πŸ‘

And well done to everyone else who has been out getting those long runs, training miles and sessions ticked off! πŸ’ͺ

Another very busy week (and a bit!) for the SJS gang, absolutely brilliant work, everyone! πŸ’™πŸ‘

Another fantastic session tonight with 15 of you joining us! πŸ’ͺ

We had a bit of everything this evening, wind, sunshine, rain, and even a couple of deer popping by to watch us! 🦌🌦️

A big shout-out to Ian, Jayne and Stan for getting their sessions done while enjoying a sunny holiday. Great commitment! β˜€οΈπŸ‘

A huge welcome to Julia on her first SJS session. We hope it's the first of many! 😊

A massive happy birthday to Sarah, who chose tonight's session over Prosecco! πŸ˜‰πŸ₯‚ Thank you as well for treating us all to some absolutely amazing baking afterwards, it definitely went down a treat! πŸŽ‚πŸͺ

Brilliant work from everyone tonight. See you all next week! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

What a fantastic Champagne League series it's been for Team SJS! πŸΎπŸƒ

With the series now complete, we want to say a huge well done to everyone who took part, volunteered and supported throughout the 10 races.

A special mention goes to Dannii and Phoebe, who completed all 10 races, while Joe completed an incredible 9 races.

Our volunteers have also been amazing. Stu volunteered at all 10 races, with Sue, Paul, Sarah and Tori volunteering at the majority of the series. Thank you for giving up your time to support not only Team SJS, but the Champagne League as a whole.

There were some fantastic individual achievements too:
πŸ… Phoebe finished 4th female in the Yellow Jersey competition.
πŸ… Dannii finished 4th overall in the Champagne League Handicap standings
πŸ₯‰ Dannii, alongside John and Liz, also secured 3rd place in the team competition.
πŸ”₯ Dannii also achieved 8 out of 10 course PBs, running an incredible 14 minutes and 21 seconds faster across the series than last year.
⚑ Joe was the first Fitmums runner home in 8 of the 10 races, showing fantastic consistency throughout the series.
πŸ˜‚ And finally, congratulations to Phoebe's team, who picked up the award for Best Team Name

We're incredibly proud of everyone who represented SJS this year. Whether you raced, volunteered or came along to support, you've all played a part in another brilliant Champagne League.

Roll on next year... even if we all say every year that we won't be back! πŸ˜‚πŸΎ

Another fantastic turnout on a warm summer evening! β˜€οΈ

Tonight we brought back the card game for a bit of fun, and it definitely delivered plenty of laughs... and maybe a few not-so-happy faces too! πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ

Let's just say some people ended up with a lot of 600m reps! πŸ™ˆ

A huge welcome to Hannah on her very first SJS session. We hope it's the first of many! What a session to choose for your debut. πŸ’ͺ

A massive well done as well to Stan and Ian, who still managed to smash out a session while on holiday. Dedication at its best! β˜€οΈ

Brilliant effort from everyone tonight. See you all next week! πŸ‘πŸƒ

What a fantastic weekend for Team SJS! πŸ‘πŸ”₯

A huge congratulations to Theo, who smashed his parkrun PB, breaking the 23-minute barrier with an incredible 22:45! πŸ’ͺπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Sadly we don't have a photo this time... but we'll make sure we do next time! πŸ˜‰πŸ“Έ

Then yesterday it was the South Cave 10K, where our team were out in force.

πŸ… Demi put in a brilliant performance to finish 9th female overall!

πŸ‘ A massive well done as well to Tori, Phoebe and Josh, who were all on pacing duties, helping others achieve their goals. Fantastic running and pacing from all three of you!

We're so proud of everyone representing SJS this weekend. Keep up the amazing work!

🌟 Athlete Spotlight – Kev 🌟

Kev is one of the original SJS members, and holds a special place in our journey as he was the very first athlete I ever wrote a marathon training plan for.

When Kev joined SJS, he already had an impressive running background, with a marathon PB of 3:39. But we knew there was so much more to come.

After putting in the hard work through a tough training block, Kev absolutely smashed the Amsterdam Marathon, running an incredible 3:27.

Not every race goes to plan, and Valencia was one of those days. Despite not having the race he'd trained so hard for, Kev still came away with another sub-3:30 marathon, something to be incredibly proud of.

In 2025, Kev took on the Budapest Marathon, where he produced another huge breakthrough to set his current marathon PB of 3:17. To go from not breaking 3:30 to running 3:17 is a fantastic achievement and a real credit to his consistency.

It's not just the marathon where Kev has improved. Since joining SJS he has:
πŸ… Joined the sub-20 parkrun club with a PB of 19:39
πŸ… Run an impressive 40:08 10K... and I still reckon that sub-40 is coming!

Kev is an incredibly strong runner. At times, his mind has got there before his fitness, but over the years we've watched both his mental resilience and physical strength grow massively.

A regular on a Wednesday night, Kev always puts the work in, even on the days when he's not feeling it. That consistency is exactly why he continues to improve.

Well done, Kev, it's been brilliant to watch your journey, and I don't think you're finished yet! πŸ‘πŸƒ

A smaller group tonight as we hit the start of the summer holidays, but we know plenty of you who couldn't make it still got your session done while away, so a huge well done to everyone keeping the consistency going! πŸ‘

A big welcome to Glenn on his first official SJS session. Great to have you with us, brilliant work tonight! πŸ’ͺ

Fantastic effort from everyone who came along. Enjoy the rest of your week and we'll see you all again next Wednesday! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ A fantastic turnout at tonight's pre-England session! βš½πŸƒ

A brilliant effort from everyone tonight, with plenty of hard work put in before cheering on England.

A special shout out as well to Sue, Harvey and Duncan, who were racing at the Laxton 10K this evening. We hope you all had a great run and look forward to hearing how you got on! πŸ‘

Well done everyone!

SJS Sunday Celebrations

It's been another fantastic week of racing, PBs and achievements across the SJS team!

We kicked things off last weekend with Harvey running a superb new parkrun PB of 20:15. Back in 2023, Harvey hadn't even broken the 30-minute barrier, and now he's knocking on the door of a sub-20 parkrun. What an incredible journey!

A huge shout out also goes to Stan, who at just 13 years old smashed through the 19-minute barrier, running an incredible 18:31 and taking 44 seconds off his previous parkrun PB. Stan is a regular at our Wednesday SJS sessions and is going from strength to strength. At the rate he's improving, we can imagine he'll be chasing Stu's 15-minute parkrun PB in a few years' time!

Abbie, who joined our SJS sessions 11 months postpartum, has had an amazing couple of weeks. Last weekend she ran a new postpartum parkrun PB, and just one week later she went even quicker, running her fastest ever parkrun and breaking 35 minutes for the very first time. It's been incredible watching Abbie's confidence grow, and we're so proud of everything she's achieved.

Dannii and Stu also took on the Winterton 10 Miler, with Stuart finishing in 2nd place after another strong performance.

Tuesday brought the East Hull Harriers Summer League race, where Stuart claimed another 2nd place finish. Phoebe produced another fantastic run, while Ben didn't quite have the race he'd hoped for but made the sensible decision on the night. His confidence and consistency at training continue to grow, and we're proud of the progress he's making. A huge thank you as well to Chris and Kev for volunteering, with Chris taking on the role of Race Director.

Friday saw the Walkington 10K, where Stuart claimed his first ever Walkington 10K victory. We also had brilliant performances from Phoebe, Kev, Ian, Sue, Demi and Suzanne, all producing fantastic runs. A special mention goes to Demi, who finished as the 6th female overall.

Over the weekend, Duncan took on the Grim Up North 10K, while Kev completed the Grim Up North Half Marathon, fantastic efforts from both of them!

Meanwhile, Ellen is currently taking on a rather different challenge, climbing to the top of Germany... or Austria, depending on where you stand! πŸ˜‰

A brilliant week all round. Well done everyone, we love seeing all your hard work paying off!

A huge turnout on a warm summer evening for another great SJS session!

A big welcome to Theo, who joined us for his first session with us. We hope you enjoyed it and look forward to seeing you again soon.

A fantastic effort from everyone tonight, especially those who raced last night and those who achieved PBs over the weekend. It's great to see all your hard work paying off.

Good luck to everyone taking on the Walkington 10K on Friday. Enjoy the race.

See you all next week!
