🎃🔴⚪️ OCTOBER FIXTURES | A FRIGHT NIGHT OF FOOTBALL! 👻⚽️

October is looking scarily busy for the Wings! 🪽🎃

We’ve already started the month with a monstrous 6–1 win over MVF Gillingham… and there’s plenty more football lurking in the shadows. 😈🔥

💀 Fri 23/10 – Cobham Colts Vets
🧛 Fri 30/10 – Tilly’s Angels | Charity Game

Four Friday nights. Plenty of goals to be ex-screaming about. Hopefully a few boo-tiful performances and some absolutely fang-tastic football along the way! 🧛‍♂️⚽️

MAN v FAT v SIX ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

A very good performance saw a return to winning ways for the Old wings 🪽

Slick football saw Matt Hart & Ash Cameron assist each other for a 2 nil lead early on!

Chances came and went with the MVF Gillingham keeper making some good saves.

However the Wings managed to add a couple more goals before HT.

First MOTM Levi Lambert teed up Richard Butler following a long throw before scoring with an absolutely sublime free kick himself.

HT 4-0

All change at the break as the entire subs bench got on for the 2nd half.

A slow start in the 2nd half saw the Gills pull a goal back as a drive from just outside the penalty area wrong footed keeper Russ.

This proved to be a wake up call and the Wings settled down and got back to playing proper football.

Levi Lambert again assisted Richy Butler whose drive in to the corner made it 5-1 before some great wing play from Simon Tarman led to Matt Hart bundling home for his 2nd of the game.

🔴⚪️ PLAYER OF THE MONTH | AUGUST 🏆

Congratulations to our skipper Bradley Woods, our Welling United Vets Player of the Month for August! 👏🪽

Woodsy has set the standard from day one, bringing great leadership, energy and commitment to every training session and match. 💪🔥

His influence both on and off the pitch has played a big part in a fantastic start to the season, with the Wings currently top of the Kent County Veterans Division 2 West. 🔝🔴⚪️

A proper captain leading by example. 👊

Well deserved, Woodsy! 🏆🪽

⚽️ Whistleblowers Win ⚽️

A shambles of a 1st half saw us 3-0 down at HT to 3 very well taken goals.

6 changes at HT, but it was 4-0 before we got going properly following the offside trap being broken and a near post finish.

A lovely Jim Cook cross was nodded home by Ash Cameron for our consolation goal.

Shout out to Whistleblowers’ 2 CBs and GK who were unfortunately a match for everything we threw at them.
