Huge congratulations to Ricardo on passing his ShoDan (for non kendo people that’s 1st Dan) grade today at the Western Seminar in Bristol.
In the 5 years that out kendo club has existed we have had 3 people take their ShoDan exam and Ricardo is that 3rd person.

First of all - I should apologise for not getting this important photo out sooner:
Those that were left standing for the last Keiko at the end of 2024.

We all made progress in 2024. Some of us more than others but that's the thing about Kendo. You forge ahead or you pootle along, it's up to you and the only competition is with yourself unless you want to get into the serious stuff that is 🤣

As the saying goes: How do you get better at Kenod? - Do more Kendo!

This evening we had a visit from Hiyama Sensei (7th Dan) and he did some teaching for us all as well as taking part in waza geiko and jigeiko.
Hannah is missing from the photo because she was gone like lightning after practice 😀
Everyone put in a great amount of effort and the really good turnout was impressive for our little village club - thank you all.
