A lovely day at the Tiptree Charity Cup Walking Football Tournament in support of The Robin Cancer Trust, where we represented Billericay Town. ⚽💙
The team showed great effort throughout, with lots of encouragement, teamwork and some really good balls played. It’s always such a nice tournament to attend and today was no different with great weather, a relaxed picnic-style atmosphere and plenty of football.
We had a couple of draws and losses along the way, but finished the day with a win and came 3rd overall with an excellent full squad performance.
Thank you to the hosts Beacon Hill, a fantastic day was had by all at this well run and enjoyable tournament!
Well done team! 👏⚽

🌧️⚽ The rain certainly didn't dampen our spirits yesterday!
It was another fantastic day for the Billericay women's teams, with strong performances across the board.
💙 The Blues continue to hold top spot in their league.
🤍 The Whites also remain at the summit of theirs.
With just one matchday remaining, both teams have put themselves in a great position. Now it all comes down to the final round of fixtures and securing the points needed to finish the job.
❤️ The Reds were once again impressive, continuing to show their quality in their first competitive season in the EWWFL. Their progress and performances this season have been a credit to everyone involved.
One final push to go. Good luck to all three teams as they head into the business end of the season! 👏

What a fantastic few days in Holland at the Almelo City Cup - 10th Anniversary, hosted at the impressive Heracles Football Club.
Billericay Town Walking Football Club were proud to be part of a truly international event, joining teams from Belgium, Poland and, of course, our wonderful Dutch hosts, alongside many other clubs from across Europe.
The tournament began with a memorable opening ceremony, with captains proudly carrying their club flags onto the pitch – the perfect start to what would become an unforgettable 2 days. From start to finish, the organisation was outstanding and a credit to everyone involved.
Billericay Ladies, who were competing in this tournament for the very first time - they showed incredible determination, resilience and team spirit throughout, battling in every game and achieving a fantastic 5th-place finish out of 16 teams. An amazing achievement and one every single player should be proud of.
But this trip was about much more than football. With a united group of men and women, supported by some fantastic partners, we created memories both on and off the pitch. We shared meals together, all 32 of us, enjoyed a lots of drinks, sang plenty of songs and laughed our way through a brilliant few days.
We travelled to Almelo as a group, but we returned home as something even stronger – closer friends, better teammates and an even tighter Billericay family.
As they say, Medals and trophies collect dust; memories live with us forever!
Thank you to everyone who made the trip so special. Here's to the next adventure! 💙⚽

The walking football ladies were out in full support of Billericay Town FC this evening as they took on Chatham Town FC in the Pitching In Isthmian Premier Play-Off Semi-Final.
A thrilling 3–2 victory sends Town through to an all-Essex Derby final against Brentwood Town FC on Monday 3rd May! 🔥
And judging by that performance… it looks like Town might’ve picked up a few finishing tips from the ladies’ deadly prowess in front of goal this season 😉⚽

Billericay Player Spotlight - Tanya Meade
I can’t remember exactly when I first started playing football but I will never forget the moment I was told I had to stop.
Growing up on an estate, being the only girl playing football felt completely normal. At primary school, I was supported by my teachers and friends, and in my final year I was proud to win Player of the Year. That moment meant everything to me. It made me excited for the future and what football might look like at secondary school. But that excitement didn’t last long.
When I arrived at senior school, I was told that girls couldn’t play football. I still found the courage to trial for the team, but instead of being given a chance, I was laughed at and made to feel like I didn’t belong. That moment stayed with me. It didn’t just take football away, it knocked my confidence too. So I turned my focus elsewhere.
I threw myself into other sports; hockey, basketball, badminton, anything that would give me that same sense of belonging. But deep down, football was always the one I truly loved.
It wasn’t until my mid-30s that football found its way back into my life. I came across an advert in the Thurrock Gazette for a 12-week Women’s Football Fitness course, and I decided to give it a go. It was tough, physically demanding in ways I wasn’t used to but it changed everything. I started to lose weight, build friendships, and, most importantly, my mental health improved massively. I felt like myself again.
When the course ended, we didn’t want it to stop. With the help of a dedicated coach who volunteered their time, we kept going. More women joined, our numbers grew, and what started as a short course became something much bigger. We trained in parks during the summer, played futsal through the winter, and began organizing matches and entering tournaments.
Football was no longer something I had lost it had become something I had rebuilt.
Then came one of the proudest moments of my life. My daughter said to me, “Mum, I want to play football just like you.”
Without hesitation, I found her a local team, and she signed for U10 Lakeside Girls. Now, as she goes into her seventh season, I couldn’t be prouder of the player and person she is becoming. Knowing that I inspired her is something I will always treasure.
I may have missed out on playing football in my teenage years, but when I play now, I feel young again. Football is my happy place. Whether I’m on the pitch, supporting my daughter from the sidelines, or watching my favorite women’s team, it fills me with joy.
I didn’t just find football again, I found myself again.
