Walking is great – but here’s what happens to your body if it's the only exercise you do Experts explain what relying on walking alone means for muscle, bones and long-term fitness
Dance, exercise and wellbeing About 8 years ago, i was diagnosed with a rare form of adult onset, Muscular Dystrophy, known as Myofibrillar Myopathy.
My medical team said it was probably impossible to ever build muscle and that my condition would deteriorate, which it did, pretty fast. The advice given to me at the time was very negative, i was told that even with years of intense physio, it was highly unlikely that i could improve my mobility and was told i needed to use a power chair. So, for the past 5 years i got around in a power chair, i

Join us at Mwldan Studio tomorrow at 1.00 for some salsa fitness fun.
Seated or standing options, all abilities welcome.
Regular walking is great exercise, but as we age, we also need to focus on balance, improving muscle strength, and preventing our joints from stiffening up. Seated exercise takes pressure off the knees and back, while helping to prevent falls.
Active-Ability provides a good mix of gentle cardio exercise, strength training, and stretching in a fun and friendly safe space, providing free refreshments and time for a chat after our sessions at Barcud Housing, Bro Teifi.
Check out Active-Ability on Facebook to find a class in Cardigan, or DM me here. Call me on 07910111215 for more information.

A Department of Health and Social Care spokesman said: “Regular exercise, including strength training, is vital at every age. For older people it improves balance and mobility, reduces the risk of falls and heart disease, and helps people stay independent and out of hospital.
Baby boomers at risk of falls because they don’t go to the gym Most of Britain’s baby boomers are at risk of falls as they age because they do not do enough strength training, data show. Only a third of those aged 61 to 80 meet the national recommendations to do muscle-strengthening exercise at least twice a week, the figures reveal. Lifting weights and resis...

Day 5, the final day of my week off was a little cooler. Is this the end of the extreme heat I wonder?
My day was spent in town, treated myself to a little something from Bev's stall in The Guild Hall, some luxurious chocolates from Yum Yums and lunch with our wonderful WI leader Candy Hawkins at Cardigan Castle.
I did some little rough sketches of how my garden will look when its completed. Doing some research on suitable plants and shrubs for Hannah's garden and finishing off the playlist for Active-Ability Pilates session on Monday.
Im looking forward to getting back to work, iv missed you all and need to get back into the groove now.
Have a lovely weekend folks. See you all next week.
Day 4 of my week off. I had a lovely lazy morning reading my book stretched out on the bed with the fan on. Its so hot. But i got an hour of housework in this morning before i rested. I did 1hr 30 minutes mix of cardio and weight lifting, even though it was hot. I bought two fans into the bedroom, but still sweated it out.
Iv started putting together a new playlist for our Monday Balates session (a mix of Pilates and ballet movements in our seats), oh, you are gonna love this one. Lots of old classics from the 50's and 60's. I enjoy creating new playlists and choreographing new movements.
My garden is looking great, and i wheeled out on the new pavement today. The cement dried so fast in this heat.
On with more needle felting this evening and if i have the energy later ill sort out all these dressmaking patterns to pass on to someone else. I dont have much time for dressmaking these days, but will save a few of my favourites in case i take it up again one day
Day 3 of my jolly stay holiday started with breakfast at the garden centre with the lovely Rose Appleby, it was sooooo hot, we had the garden to ourselves. A little too hot for rolling around under those glass house roof displays, but i have more ideas for the garden for when this drought is over.
Only managed an 85 minute workout today, not bad, but it was too hot to do anything too energetic so i did a mix of boxercise, low impact cardio and weight lifting.
After that i decided to give my office a good clean, oh so many dust bunnies hiding behind my computer screen. All nice and clean now.
Time to chill, watching the eclipse on the telly and waiting for it to go dark, wondering if Gypsy will think its dinner time twice as it goes dark, then light again. Thats about as far as my interest goes. Iv seen one before, that was special, but not so special this time, Hannah isnt here.
Stay safe everyone, dont look at the sun, but enjoy the moment.
