📣 Open Tender Opportunity: Young People's Training in South Asian Dance Forms

Fabric is seeking to appoint a Midlands-based provider, or consortium of partners, to design and deliver a new iteration of South Asian dance training for young people as part of our Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) programme.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of South Asian dance training in the Midlands and support talented young people to access high-quality development opportunities. The programme builds on years of learning and aims to broaden opportunities for young dancers across a diverse range of South Asian dance forms.

If you are a professional leader (or a consortium) based in the Midlands region with experience in South Asian dance and youth development, we'd love to hear from you.

What happens when choreography meets construction, labour and lived experience?

Join Eve Stainton for a powerful workshop exploring movement, bricklaying and working-class masculinities at Fabric Space 2. Together, participants will test new creative material, share reflections and explore physical practices connected to collective labour, care and resistance.

This workshop is for anyone who identifies with a form of masculinity and resonates with the themes. This is a trans+ inclusive space.

There are two months left to apply for Fabric’s CAT Admissions Workshops.

These workshops offer a supportive, welcoming environment where young dancers can experience a practical dance session alongside a creative workshop designed to give a real sense of the CAT training experience.

⭐ West Midlands — Saturday 4 July (registration closes Friday 3 July)
⭐ East Midlands — Saturday 11 July (registration closes Friday 10 July)

CAT (Centre for Advanced Training) is a high-quality, part-time dance programme for young people aged 11–18, and up to 25 for disabled dancers. The programme includes regular training in contemporary dance, ballet and Pilates, alongside creative exploration and wider movement practices.

Students who join benefit from expert teaching, performance opportunities, and a strong peer community of young people equally passionate about dance.

Before the admissions workshops, we are also offering GetSets on 9 May — an accessible first step into the CAT pathway. This session offers young dancers a chance to experience elements of the programme and build confidence ahead of applying.

Part of Let’s Dance International Frontiers 2026 (LDIF26), the BLACK BRITISH DANCE PLATFORM opens a window into what dance is becoming — not just what it is now. A gathering of voices shaping tomorrow’s cultural landscape, grounded in urgency, imagination and lived experience.

TOGETHER
An explosive contemporary duet driven by pulse, urgency and relentless intensity. The choreography shifts between dark humour, exhaustion and fleeting moments of innocence and simplicity. Breath becomes audible, effort exposed, humanity revealed in small gestures.

UPDATED DATES - Summer School 2026 with ADHOK - The Language of Dance Theatre Outdoors

Compagnie ADHOK will lead a four-day intensive workshop to develop and explore your ability to create a language with dance and theatre in public space. The updated dates are Mon 27 Jul - Thu 30 Jul 2026 (arrive from 9am for an 11am start on Monday 27th July and depart after 5pm on Thursday 30th July).

After International Dance Day, we’re continuing the celebration with Sing Child Sing, a film that refuses to sit still in time.

Commissioned by Fabric, the work explores curiosity, disruption and joy through movement and sound, unfolding across two iconic Birmingham locations: The Vaults and Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.

Directed by Ben Williams, produced by Far From the Norm and performed by Botis Seva and Shiloh, the film moves between voice, rhythm and physical presence — asking what it means for sound to become movement, and movement to become voice.

If International Dance Day is a moment, this film is a continuation of it an invitation to stay with dance a little longer.
