You can’t pour from an empty cup and you can’t create great content from an empty life

As an online business owner for 13 years, I’ve seen every trend come and go. Now, it’s AI.

I decided to play around and ask AI to give me a ‘calm, aesthetic lounge’ background for my selfie. The result was stunning - probably too stunning 😆. Perfectly plumped cushions, a perfectly placed plant and flawless skin!

But as I looked at the ‘perfect’ version, I realised something: my real life - the one in the hallway with the stairs and the football just out of frame - is the one I worked 13 years to build.

I’m learning that while AI can generate a ‘better’ background, it can’t generate the feeling of a full house, the sound of my 8-year-old running down those stairs, or the peace of mind that comes with finally choosing balance over ‘perfection.’

Are you embracing the AI era, or do you prefer the ‘raw and real’ side of social media?

Let’s talk about it in the comments! 👇🏼

4 kids, a stable business and finally realising that ‘doing less’ is the reward for years of ‘doing it all.’

The age gap is wild.

One minute I’m checking in with my eldest about his University modules and schedule and the next I’m trying to remember which day is PE and which clubs my 8-year-old is supposed to be in.

It’s a total mental gear shift. Working around the ‘big’ life decisions of a young adult and the ‘little’ daily needs of primary school in the same hour is exactly why I’ve protected my schedule this year.

I realised I struggle to be the mum I want to be or the professional I want to be if I’m constantly rushing.

As we hit the final day of the holidays, I’m feeling so grateful for this balance ❤️

It’s been almost 13 years since I left my 9-5 to start my business, when I was preparing to become a mum for the third time.
Now, at 41, I’ve officially entered a new era.

With one child at Uni and my youngest now 8, the ‘climb’ that got me here just doesn’t fit anymore. I’m so grateful to still be working with my loyal portfolio of clients, but I’ve decided to keep my books closed to anyone new.

I’m choosing to trade ‘growth’ for presence, making more room for the kids and the life I’ve worked so hard to build.

I’m still here, just at a slower, more intentional pace ❤️

Hey 🤍 hope you’re doing ok x

I started my first business 13 years ago because I wanted freedom, not a 9-5 life that made me miss out on my children growing up.

What I didn’t realise then was that freedom isn’t just about working from home.
It’s about building something that aligns with your season of life.

Some weeks I’m fully in my business. Other weeks, I’m fully in mum-mode and that’s ok.

You can be ambitious and present. You can want more and move slowly.
That’s the kind of balance I’m learning to protect.

41 today 🎈

The other day, my 8-year-old explained tiktok to me like he was the CEO of the app (even though he doesn’t have any form of social media and has never ever been on TikTok) 😂

It made me laugh but it also reminded me of something important:
Kids get straight to the point. They don’t overcomplicate.

And that’s exactly how your content should be.
Simple. Clear. Easy to understand.

Because if your audience doesn’t get it in 30 seconds: they scroll!

Sometimes the best lessons come from the most unexpected teachers.

When I first started, I posted a lot of quotes and ‘safe’ tips.

It felt comfortable, but it didn’t really connect.
Because what I was really doing? 👉🏼 Hiding.

Hiding behind borrowed words instead of finding my own.
Hiding behind polished graphics instead of sharing my real perspective.

The day I stopped playing it safe and started speaking from my own experience, things changed.
My content felt braver, my voice felt stronger and the right people started listening.

Sometimes, the biggest growth comes from choosing to stop hiding.
