Its Match Day but with a difference.

Stewart Haslam - A Thankyou

The word legend is used far too much these days but for this lad he really is.

At 17 he moved with his family from the Knobbers to the Pool and didnt know anyone, started college late and was unsure of himself and his future.

He did meet a friend 27 years ago who will remain anonymous 👀 who decided that it would be funny to try and trip up the new boy, this class clown got it awfully wrong and ended up on the deck himself. They got up shook hands and were best friends since.

Again at 17 he came to sunday league training with grown men and his nickname the cat was instant pulling a save genuinely he flew through the air to claw a shot out of no where, his fast reflexes for all to see.

22 years later he would join Baz and friends to help mould and create BFT a group that played football to get out the house, he was session lead for 18 months building Thursdays up to a high level as he believed in the group and the stigma around mental health.

Fast forward to now hes pretty much done everything in football, but its the family man we all get to see and hear, his love for his wife "Char" and 2 girls Maddie and Macie is a testament to the man we know and love.

We all will still be saying you still have a session in you but thats your decision as today your 11s games finish but not without a final goodbye.

All I have to say is thankyou for being you mate, loyal honest and above all for being genuine, they dont make them like you anymore.

BFT Announcement 🚨

We are extremely proud to announce our new working partnership with AFC Blackpool.

The deal, a long term exclusive agreement between both parties has been agreed which will see Blackpool Football Therapy CIC move its base of operations into the Mechanics ground in a landmark move for both the football club and ourselves which brings football at a fantastic level and mental health & wellbeing under one roof.

Thomas Baldwin of Afc had this to say "Afc blackpool would like to welcome blackpool football therapy cic to the mechanics ground. After 6 months of meetings and talks, plans were accepted and a long terma agreement that BFT will form a relationship with afc blackpool. Afc blackpool was impressed with the way blackpool sport therapy are being run and the support it gives to the community when people are struggling and need someone to talk to, we are very excited to be involved with this amazing group"

Andy Simpson Head of operations added " We are delighted and extremely excited to have all of our operations under one roof, this will give our members a chance to play football on a fabulous pitch where there families and kids can come and watch in a safe environment"

Ant Barrot Chairman and Founder "Its taken a while to get this over the line it needed to be right for both Afc Blackpool and ourselves, everything seemed to click into place recently and I am absolutely made up, this long term agreement will see a collaborative approach to ensure the futures of both parties whilst bringing a a new and fresh approach towards mental health and wellbeing football alongside an official football club, this is a legacy move and this is only the beginning".

TORNADO TUESDAY SESSION REPORT 🧡🖤

Wow is probably the best thing I can say about that session some top class footy played by both teams end to end exciting slick passing and some absolutely top quality goals with the pick of the bunch coming from the left boot of L Bazza ,some finish that pal!

Both defences were brilliant keeping out the free flowing attacks with Christopher Morgan and myself yes you heard that right Simo at the heart of either defence

Was good to see some new faces Adam Danny and Reece all bedding in very well

Can’t remember what the score was but I know the reds run out as winners

Scorelines are not important what is important is getting 20 lads out on the pitch forgetting about everyday life and having a good laugh

Some silky feet great link up play and some fantastic shots on goal desperately unlucky not to get on the scoresheet hitting the woodwork on a couple of occasions

Did not stop all night kept pushing kept playing and eventually got the goal his hard work deserved

⚽ It’s Not Just Football

Some people come for the game.
Some come to get out of the house.
Some come because it’s the only hour in the week where things feel a bit lighter.

And honestly…
all of those reasons are valid.

Because this isn’t just about football.

It’s about:

Clearing your head after a long day

Getting out of your own thoughts for an hour

Having a laugh with people who just get it

Feeling part of something, even on the quiet days

You don’t need to be the best player.
You don’t need to talk about anything you don’t want to.

Just turning up… is enough.

And more often than not, people leave feeling: A bit calmer.
A bit lighter.
A bit more themselves again.

That’s the real win.
