What a day down at common edge the home rugby league in Blackpool, we was entertained with some great rugby from the U8s and the U16s. The U8s festival saw over 40 kids playing games with smiles on their faces and showing the future of the sport is looking great. The U16s had a huge quarter final game and they came out on top to make it to the semis. Could this team reach the heights of 2 years ago when they made history by being the first junior team from Blackpool to reach a NWC cup final π€. We are the only club in the FY postcode and surrounding areas that has 5 junior clubs playing in a league format to support junior players development. If you want your child to come and try for free please contact the page for age groups or for more information π¦ππ

What a great game of rugby league we had today down at Common Edge β the home of rugby league in Blackpool! π¦π
Firstly, a huge thank you to Saddleworth Rangers for travelling up to us and bringing a coach full of supporters. π We hope you enjoy your night out in Blackpool and wish you all the very best for the rest of the season.
The final score was Blackpool Scorpions 26 β 16 Saddleworth Rangers πͺ
It was a tough encounter from start to finish, with neither side giving an inch in the blustery conditions. Rangers got on the scoreboard first to take a 0-6 lead, but the Scorps responded brilliantly. Mitch crossed for our opening try and Rowley added the conversion to level things up at 6-6.
After a hip-drop tackle unfortunately ruled Rowley out for the remainder of the game, Cal stepped up and slotted a difficult penalty to edge us ahead 8-6.
The Scorps then struck again when Mitch linked up beautifully from a drift play, sending Lloyd powering over. Cal added the extras to make it 14-6 going into the break.
Rangers came out strongly in the second half and their number one showed some serious footwork, taking advantage of a mismatch against two forwards to score. The conversion was missed, leaving the score at 14-10.
With pressure building on the Rangers line, our ho**er called a clever play. Everyone expected Lloyd, our battering ram, to take the ball, but the defenders bit on the decoy and Liam dived over for a well-worked try. Cal converted to extend the lead to 20-10.
To their credit, Rangers hit back again with a converted try to make it 20-16, meaning the game was still very much in the balance. The lads had to dig deep and show plenty of character.
Then came the decisive moment. After some great rugby, Wiggy finished off a flowing move to score, with the young lads from our Under-10s behind the posts going absolutely wild seeing their coach cross the line! π
Cal added the conversion to seal a 26-16 victory and send the Scorps faithful home happy.
A fantastic team performance, plenty of grit, and another two points on the board.
