Now the dust has settled, the bodies healed and the hangovers have subsided... What a brilliant TryIt Rugby MA Rugby tournament it was at Bolton Rugby Club on Saturday.
Smiles and positivity everywhere from the first minute and the atmosphere and camaraderie was infectious.
We're hugely grateful to Catherine Jones at TryIt Rugby for pulling the whole thing together and making it a massive success - everyone is so appreciative.
So rugby-wise, the humungous Buccaneers squad set to work with a narrow win against Stafford RUFC Mixed Ability Rugby, then our first ever game against our new mates Malone Tornadoes which saw Tornadoes sn**ch it by 2pts. As the heavens opened it was time for Buccaneers against Halifax Magpies Mixed Ability Rugby - with a few Buccaneers pulling on Magpies shirts - Buccaneers got the win in atrocious conditions.
Then it was party time in the clubhouse - huge shout out to Conal Duffy for playing rugby all afternoon then entertaining everyone with some brilliant music & Karaoke.
Great day for the club, for the Buccaneers and most of all MA Rugby. We can't wait for next year.
That's a wrap this season for the Buccaneers with another chapter in our amazing MA Rugby journey finished. Lots of social activity planned over summer with pre-season commencing in August.
Thank you to all our sponsors, supporters, friends, families and players this season - we can't do this without you.

BOLTON BUCCANEERS 25
STAFFORD MARVELS 27
On an unusually sunny Saturday in Bolton our mixed ability brothers Stafford RUFC Mixed Ability Rugby travelled up the M6 to take on the Bolton Buccaneers at Avenue Street. With tight games from the past two encounters, everyone knew it was going to be a great competitive game ahead.
From the first whistle, the game was extremely physical with big hits from both sides. But throughout the 60 minutes it was always played in the spirit of mixed ability rugby. Bolton took the early advantage and managed to get a two score lead but soon found that they were defending tirelessly to keep it that way. Going into the last 20 minutes, Bolton were still in the lead but found fatigue kicking in and injuries forcing changes. 60 seconds to go and a 5 point lead seemed enough before sheer persistence and determination from Stafford saw a try in the last play of the game bringing scores level before their conversion was slotted through the posts to seal the victory.
The huge crowd (some say a lot were there for the Lancs final after our game but we know the draw of MA Rugby) were treated to an MA Rugby spectacle showing the best of rugby, camaraderie and sportsmanship. 🏉🏴☠️
