First weekend of the new sailing competition season and what a start it’s been for Lancashire Youth Sailing ⛵️
We had sailors competing across two regional series this weekend:
At the RYA NW Junior & Youth Travellers hosted by West Lancs YC, our newest member Evie Pickles made an incredible impression, taking 2nd overall, 1st U14, and bringing home the U16 Lloyd Hayes Trophy 🏆
Harry was also out competing in a double hander, taking on some really tricky conditions with shifting winds and strong gusts 💨
Meanwhile, over at Delph SC for the ILCA North event, we had 5 sailors on the water. Huge congratulations to:
Molly Haslam – 1st Girl (ILCA 4) 🥇
Lochlyn Grant – 1st Boy (ILCA 4) 🥇
And well done to Will Taylor, Poppy Bedwell and Lilly Brown for getting stuck in and representing the team and their clubs brilliantly 👏
It was a challenging day all round with gusts and big shifts, but fantastic to see such resilience, skill and team spirit from all our sailors.
Great start to the season. Bring on the next event 💪

Day 2 NSSA Double Handed Team Racing at .
. .
Absolutely wonderful venue (become a firm favorite of our team! )
Thank you to Fiona Spence for the organising. It was pretty flawless .
The Sentinels received most improved Firefly Team of the weekend and went on to win 1st place in the Bronze fleet.
Vanguards finished 10th overall in the extremely strong Firefly fleet and the Cadets went on to take a 4th in the Feva Fleet following a tie with NEYYSA Mineos.
Amazing effort from all the sailors. Lovely behaviour and composure whilst racing. We came away a better team than when we arrived.
Onwards and Upwards.
Thanks to all the parents and volunteering efforts during the weekend. These events cannot happen with out the parental involvement it is massively appreciated.
