As well as looking to see the interest in eSports at BU, the event is also being run to hopefully raise money for Dorset Mind and support the great work that they do.
The Dorset Mind charity educates, challenges mental health stigma and inequality, and encourages recovery by empowering individuals to develop resilience. Their 1-2-1 & group support includes counselling, mentoring, support groups, active monitoring and a befriending service. These help people regain social skills and develop confidence. Their work is vitally important right now with the significant pressure that Covid-19 has put on a significant amount of people.

Mental health is a major problem in the UK with the NHS stating that 1 in 4 people experience some kind of mental health problem each year. We believe that the current pandemic has brought about an added strain to a significant number of people’s mental health across the UK which would mean that mental health charities are more vitally important right now. This is why we have decided to set up our event in aid of Dorset Mind who do lots of fantastic work educating and supporting people to promote positive mental health.

🎮⚽️ CALLING ALL BU FIFA PLAYERS (XBOX) ⚽️🎮
Think you're the best FIFA 21 player at BU? Here's your chance to prove just that whilst raising money for a great cause in Dorset Mind and also having the opportunity to win an amazon voucher subject to university approval (1st - £30, 2nd - £20 and 3rd - £10).
The tournament mirrors that of the Champions League structure with group matches to be held on the 1st of May and knockouts on the 2nd of May - both days will start at 11am. Randomly selected games will be streamed on Twitch and facilitated with commentary provided by us. The games will be played using kick off teams.
Entry fee for the tournament is £5. All entry fee proceeds will be donated to Dorset Mind.
